Extract from Football Fancast.... "It was a poor performance from all involved for Sunderland, but midfielder Elliot Embleton was particularly disappointing. According to SofaScore, the 22-year-old failed to produce a single key pass or complete either a cross or a long ball, whilst losing 86% of his duels. Moreover, the attacking midfielder made 44 touches whilst losing possession on 19 occasions, an average of losing the ball once every 2.3 touches. The £5.3k-per week 22-year-old managed just one shot (which hit the woodwork) whilst failing to contribute in helping to defend against Doncaster’s goals, offering no tackles, interceptions, blocks or clearances." I didn't see the game today because of a family commitment. Was Elliot as bad as they say? Terrible result today, a real shocker on what was meant to be a nailed on home win
Personally I would not like to single out one player. As a team we were woeful and that is being extremely polite.
I didn't see it either but he is one of those players who does great when everything is running smoothly but when it's not might as well not be playing. Neil is similar although I'm hopeful he will add some grit to his game. He seems willing.
Apart from the shot that hit the post, he was completely anonymous. Needs dropping along with Neil, Winchester and Gooch.
There was around 8k additional fans in the stadium today hoping to rekindle something with the club. Playing against the bottom club in the league it was in Sunderland’s hands to keep them hooked. They blew it big style.
Not meaning this in a funny way, but there's been some talk of these extra 8 thousand people that came to the game today, and the players failed to impress them etc, I'm sorry, but if they were all coming expecting to see Real Madrid I'm not surprised they left early and disappointed. Its very easy to go over when there's a feel good factor or when the team is winning. Its been dog **** over there for years. And before anyone says, I'm not exactly flush myself. And yes it was nice to see the stadium as full as it could've been, and I posted saying that in the stadium.
IMO that today, was two coaches that told the team to stick to last week's game plan but tighten up. Clearly out of their depth so just stuck to the just sacked managers game plane. Couple of examples for me.... Doyle looks shattered Gooch is trying too hard and asked play in too many positions rather than master one. Embo and Neil..... dunno Keeper shipped 8 goals in 2 games. Stewart can only do his best up top Pritchard is very good when has time on the ball. Another opinion is,these young players are out on loan so they can gain experience, with experience comes mistakes. We have asked a (at the time) 17 year old Doyle to play at the heart of a promotion expecting team yet it was illegal for him to drink alcohol. Blokes behind me today "he's ****in ****e", "fat arse" and a few other bits a pieces. Anyway, I'm sure once the new manager comes in they have seen what we have been looking at and change a few things around. Roberts mite even get a 5 minute run out.
Have stayed away from here post match until now. My ten pence worth. Despite being an eternal optimist, I normally go to games with hope rather than expectation of a win. Today was different. I expected. I thought “we should win this comfortably” it feels a far worse defeat than last weekend. The first half was some of the worst football I’ve experienced in 40 years of watching them! It hurt. It still hurts. I’m lucky I had a fantastic crowd at tonight’s gig so I forgot about it for a few hours. They need to get the manager sorted quick. Something to galvanise. We gave no leaders on the pitch. Say what you want about O’Nien and his football, he leads. He shows willing all the time. Evans vanished at 0-1. Completely hid. I understand he scored but he had completely disappeared for most of the game. Gooch might not be great, but he never disappears and never hides. An angry optimist! Might change my user name!
Seeing comments like this, I hope he goes to Burnley. Supporters like you don’t deserve to see our young talent playing for our club. Young players are inconsistent. He’s been a big highlight for us this season.
Supporting a club isn’t about winning or losing mate. Unless the players are not trying, booing is totally unacceptable IMO. I’d still be going if we were in the conference, the club doesn’t have to engage me via victories.
Still seething/livid/irate/annoyed/irked/exasperated/incandescent with rage. Take your pick. As Mr Blackadder once said "an asthmatic ant carrying 2 heavy bags of shopping advanced more quickly than we did yesterday. Absolutely effing w*nk.
As John W stated earlier Doyle looks shattered. Yet we let Xhemalji go out on loan AND sold Flannavaro. Xhemalj is/was supposedly a class defender. Get him back and get him in.
Shut up ya ****ing tit. I’m pleased you used the word supporter - that’s what I am, I attend games. Were you even there yesterday?
It is to a degree otherwise it's all pointless. I don't boo but I also don't believe all the players tried their best. If that had been a cup final they'd have run faster, tackled harder and come off the pitch exhausted. Besides the booing, in my opinion, was mainly for those who picked the team and 'prepared' them ... .... they may as well have handed out white flags to the crowd and should be clearing their desks this morning.
