Yeah I agree, I just think we’ve neglected the present a bit in recent years, and obviously when we’ve acted (NDombele, Lo Celso, Doherty for example) the recruitment has been far from a success.
Every manager will have their opinion on the squad. Talking about it publicly and rubbishing the players that you have to work with is separate. If he's not happy with what he's got, then that's completely understandable. He should work with Levy and Paritici to solve it. Talking like this just stinks of making excuses and lowering expectations.
We've definitely neglected the present, we've been far too reactive at times and waited for things to go full on tits up to then finally act - and then many times when we've actually acted we've still got it wrong. I want us operating at a level where we're focusing on everything - current first team, future first team and academy development.
I’ve no problem with him being open and honest like this. I find it refreshing. I’m sure he’s even more frank with Paratici and Levy.
I see him being happy with the window and clear about the way forward. JM was just negative constant, Conte came across as pleased with the window as in the squad has improved. Think he wanted both players and wanted those others gone.
IMHO there is always an element of "a bad worker blames his tools", ot "cannot make a silk purse from a sow's er" about managers. For all the blurb about speaking frankly, the premise has already been laid out : https://www.not606.com/threads/season-compass-2021-22.393717/page-3#post-15532797 So with the squad as now is, can Conte match it, and then extract at least an extra 7 pts (W2 D1) on top ?? Yes he can, or no he cannot (and will use the above) ??
I don’t think Conte is the sort to only use excuses when things go bad. Look at inter, they won the league and he was still demanding, that’s what top managers do. Pep is always acting like his squad isn’t enough (in his mind it’s probably not) but that’s because he’s a perfectionist and wants to win every trophy going. Put it this way, I’d rather have a demanding manager like Conte than someone like Poch who cries just for getting to a final.
Nobody mentioning Lo Celso thanking the club and fans and wishing them the best for the rest of the season on Insta? Oh right, doesn't fit the Narrative...
Football BSider report we're looking at Mickleover FC striker Fin Barker No doubt he's checking his old tweets...
All Nigeria Soccer claim that Tobi Omole has been offered a new contract Not a surprise, given he's been named in our squad for the backend of the season
Agreed. No excuse for a player to take 4 days to put out a simple insta post, especially when he posts about Argentina within 20 mins of landing with the team. He doesn't want to be here and it's obvious.
The fact he's barely on social media at all is, of course, irrelevant to pushing that Narrative and they break down as follows Argentina - 1 Villarreal - 1 Spurs - 3 Similar can be said of his Insta, where he's made eight posts all year, which break down Argentina - 5 Villarrea - 1 Spurs - 2 What next, saying 2-3 injury ravaged seasons aren't the reason for Dele's collapse in form, playing Fortnite is?
In summary I'm saying that, when facts are apparently not important anymore, you know we've had a Tory government for far too ****ing long
If Spence is still a target in the summer then we can probably expect him costing about an extra £5m-£10m after tonight!
He's not even their player. On loan from Boro, where he's contracted to 2023. They'll want to cash in, but that short contract could screw them.
