Handbags in the tunnel at the end between Morison and one of Barnsley’s staff. Nice to see all our players making sure the boss was okay.

3 points is all that matters this season. All we need is to avoid relegation and a complete rebuild in the summer.

There are things we can do.

Ralls should be tied to a new deal asap.

Colwill , Bowen and Harris need to be involved even if from the bench.

I really dont know what we do with Max Watters. I cant see how he gets in the squad after today. We cant loan him but he sadly doesnt look good enough. Harris hadnt been getting in and he just looks levels above.

Agree Watters doesn't look a good fit at all. Without Ralls, the gap last night between him and the alleged "supply chain" was huge - he's got no chance in that system. Doyle did his best pushing on but he was like the Lone Ranger with Vaulks and Wintle sitting so deep.

The pitch was atrocious and the gameplan worked - just! Complete opposite to the Forest game where Drameh and Doughty were always pushing forward down the flanks - did anyone see Drameh gett over the half way line last night?

The goal came from a lump by Flint and Ikpeazu who carried two of their players on his back before finishing - tremendous strength and determination. That was the only way we'd have scored last night and I honestly think Morison started the game not to lose rather than win it.

Putting Davies on for Watters changed the dynamics of the game - he was a real threat. Switching to a back 4 when Doughty went off and bringing on Ikpeazu said it all for me - that was the decision to go for the 3 points.

Finally, their disallowed goal was never offside in a million years.

I guess there are all sorts of reasons.....but a long drive and a cold night don't help even if its not in Stoke! Barnsley in desperation.......no Ralls and selection to ensure no loss does not help? Four wheels for sale.....would fit a car missing them.

I think that the difference between the performance against Forest and that of last night was the Oakwell "pitch". Before they kicked off I thought to myself that this is the single game if the season where Mick's hoofball would be best.
For me, that was a job well done in circumstances that weren't going to add any meaningful football.
Well done SM for reading it and adapting to it.
As BfB has already said, a trivial distraction next and then a job to be done against Posh.

Not sure if it's just my imagination but I'm wondering if we've become a little "soft" recently.

Last night was an atrocious game. As has been pointed out, the pitch was woeful so that didn't help matters but for the second time in three games I felt we were being bullied by our opponents far too easily.

Bristol City appeared to be physically stronger and more determined then us and I thought the same of Barnsley last night.

Forest were happy to play against us rather than scrapping and in fairness, with them being off the boil and us upping our efforts it suited us to a tee.

I sincerely hope we're still prepared to roll our sleeves up and scrap too as we have a few tough ones coming up in Posh and Millwall.....

In saying all this, if our coaching staff are anything to go by, we'll be ready to take on anyone in whatever fashion they like :emoticon-0142-happy

Onwards and upwards... Hopefully our Bluebirds will keep soaring up the table.

Its a risk of playing too many youngsters.
Not saying that was the case last night, but older heads often dig deeper even if they are less able.
Dont think Morrison going off after 10 mins helped.

Ralls missed as well. He has a physical presence but also looks to move the ball forward.

Barnsley's pitch has always been poor. It's an intimidating factor that goes back to the days of Skinner Normanton (see Michael Parkinson's auto biog). Their pitch is an awful, rutted mess, even in August. They have it like that to "put the wind up southern jessies".

In fairness, under Colin and other recent managers we've usually got a result there.

Bournemouth raised that as well but to my naked eye it didn’t seem to stop Barnsley passing it around quite nicely in midfield.

The majority of their points including their only two wins came at Oakwell

Explains why Morison mentioned it when discussing the after match heated "discussions".

I think it's already been mentioned but it was actually good to see the togetherness in the squad when it kicked off in the tunnel.

It seems Barnsley and their assistant manager have previous form for that kind of thing too...
