Looked pretty terrible when we first got him but he's improved. Lewis was potentially worth retaining as a back up squad player, same with Murphy, as an impact sub. I guess with Dummett already there as back up Lewis isn't needed anymore if Targett's gonna be first choice.
Yeah I agree Lewis was tremendous vs Liverpool... I would imagine come the summer should we stay up we'll be signing better players there.
Gayle has to be in the squad unfortunately. As soon as we didn't get the extra forward, it was a given. Wilson is injury prone and that leaves only Wood. ASM and Joelinton look **** up top. I don't like it but we are short of genuine forward options.
We paid 13m for him. Liverpool where apparently looking. But he’s a type of player that fits in a system like Liverpool’s. Where defending is not the game plan.
Thing is we have seen him succeed at defending before injury. I'd really like him to do well here. I'd hope some decent coaching could get him turning into a really good fullbak
Anyone surprised they left Lewis out but retained Krafth? Trippier, Manquillo and Murphy are ahead of him for the RB spot, Burn, Schar, Fede, Dummett and Lascelles ahead of him at CB. I get Lewis doesn't provide as much cover but he could develop into a good player, Krafth has developed and is no way near the level required and surely will be shipped in the summer? Strange one for me.
Both are just ****e. Both Nickson signings. The quicker the "Head Scout" is shown the door, the better. £15m we spunked on Lewis, ffs.
All 3 left out of the new 25 Man squad. Hayden still injured. Looking to ship Lewis & Clark out on loans.
Bet Hayden is thinking his "This isn't Football Manager" comments back in December have come home to roost
Seems likely he was probably told prior to the interview and firing shots across the bow of the club. Not the smartest move... I actually like Hayden but if he's out until March with no cups to play in and behind Willock, Bruno and Joelinton for the starting spots, then with Almiron, Shelvey and Longstaff as the back up for those spots - can't complain with him being left out as he would probably be able to play 5-7 games at the end of the season.
Hayden isn't good enough with the ball to play in midfield at the PL level. At best he is that holding midfielder for a relegation club. That's my personal take on his ability. Ignoring all the stats rubbish (that's just deceiving anyway), he gives a lot of possession away and doesn't pick good passes for the ones he does complete. I know the football manager stuff didn't read well but I do think you've got to respect the lads dedication and professionalism in his time here. Its clearly coming to an end as we are now moving on to getting proper ballers like Bruno. I still respect Hayden though despite all his limitations. There are others who can't say they always gave 100%. There are others who have chucked their toys about when things haven't gone their way. He has tried his damndest for the club so he's alright by me.
