Yes, there was plenty of good in Johnson. Personally, I only ever saw commitment from the players to him. I would have preferred to see us mix it a bit more, when being hustled, but we were definitely improved through his time here, and I really do think he didn't just turn up here for the pay off. But whatever the reasons, his old habit of overseeing very bad stretches of form meant that we were unlikely to go up, and once that became reasonably clear, I think the decision was probably made on that fact. But we have had many worse men in that job. Hopefully we can benefit from the work he's done here, push on and get back to somewhere near where we should be. And good luck to Johnson.
McCann might be ok,but I think he'll need time. We don't have time. We need someone who is going to get stuck into the best squad in this league and get them to perform at their very best...now!
its surprising, (or maybe not surprising), how many conflicting reports we are getting about who is being interviewed when.
Now one of the things I most liked about LJ was that when he talked after a game, I always felt like he'd been watching the same game I had. When it was Parky giving the talks I was always wondering if I'd been watching last weeks game by mistake or something, because what he'd say seemed to have no relevance at all to what I'd seen. I'm sorry to see Lee go, but then again, some of the recent resuts have been unacceptable, so that's the way football is these days.
It definitely feels like we will hear through some sort of leak the final outcome tonight, with one of them being in the ground tomorrow. If they do appoint McCann (which they're within their rights to), I'd imagine they will want to keep it quiet until after the game.
It would make more sense to me if it was Methven driving it But further down the thread it says that they think its Methven leaking it, not him that wants Keane.
Apparently it's all been agreed in principle, maybe this is the formal interview to get things signed off ?
He couldn't look after his own daughter properly, never mind a whole football club. I'm hoping it's neither of the McCann's too mate.
Keane talks really well on TV, and I find myself hardly ever disagreeing with him on the footballing topics he tackles. So I'd imagine he would blow the other candidates out of the water in the interview stakes. There's only a few dozen football people in the UK who always deserve respect because of what they've achieved in their career and you tend to listen when they talk.... Keane is one of those people. If I was KLD I'd keep the most likely candidate to get the job as the last interview, hopefully get gets the job straight after the interview.
Better than going to Portsmouth in a monsoon, and Bolton in a gale, to treat the travelling fans to abject humiliation would be a start.
