Sure. That's why clubs who spend more don't do any better than those who spend nothing. What happens to the results when you compare all games managed, rather than conveniently ignoring the run of form that got Bruce sacked?
It's then an unfair comparison because, rafa got the club relegated before enjoying a season in the fizzy. The two full Premier league seasons both had they amassed the same number of points This season it was certainly time to go, but nufc didn't strengthen and the other clubs did. That's why a points comparison is fair because that's ultimately what managers are paid to get.
Its an 'unfair comparison' because it proves you wrong. That is the one consistent part of your argument. ...come to think of it, of any of your arguments.
So they didn't both collect 90 points across their full seasons? Did one finish 10 th 13th and the other 13th then 12th? There's all Kinds of variables you can bring in but nothing that goes deep enough to make your claim. To prove me wrong you'll need a financial breakdown of all 20 clubs over that period.
Benitez arrived with the club 19th in the Premier League. He left with the club in 13th. Bruce arrived with the club 13th in the Premier League. He left with the club in 19th. That tells you exactly what both managers contributed over their time there.
At least that's funny mate Essentially when people bring in the money spent into the debate then you'd need to look at what the other clubs spent and take everything into consideration. It opens up almost endless variables.. That's why looking at points amassed over full seasons is a fair comparison. This season was atrocious and it was definitely time for Bruce to go.
All of these points are the variables that come into play and there is my point. The landscape is always changing within the club and at the other clubs in the league.. Promoted, relegated it's never the same. If we're looking purely at results over the two full seasons then bruce did aswel as rafa Benitez. Bruce didn't walk away like Rafa due to financing new players though which is a other variable I could use, but there's just no point... We can go back and forth with limitless variables. It was time for Bruce to go! He was doing badly the fans didn't like him and I've found them to be extremely hostile towards myself or pundits when trying to highlight anything he did well. The great rafa? I'm not so sure Both did well and badly imo
What does it matter anyway? Rafa and Brucey are both our history, as is Ashley. Let's focus on the here and now and then look to the future. All I'm worried about now is Howe hopefully keeping us up and then the club progressing.
It's actually more of a longstanding joke at this point, but it always Russell's out the venom. The Bruce hate runs deep.
Fair enough, far be it for me get in the way of banter / friendly fighting. I just can't be arsed spending energy talking about players or managers under the Ashley era. It's another reason why I dropped out of the forum for a while, I just fell out if love with the game. No manager ever had a real chance while Ashley was in charge.
