@Geordieginola He kept us up, so you were wrong.. You were pissed off because he was telling you it was an accumulation of points and defending himself.
I gave him a chance. He was a dick of a man. But results wise he did ok. Did I say I want him to fail at West Brom. How long before when he loses a game does he blame something else other than himself. Wouldn’t surprise me if he blames the Newcastle fans.
At that time he was on a horrific run of form so at that point in time it was fine. And if you look I still made it clear I detested the bloke. I praise when it’s going right and I criticise when it isn’t. That fair.
You didn't give him a chance mate you were highly vocal and offensive towards him You did have the good nature to apologise and say well done though when he proved you wrong. Some didn't..
I did give him a chance. He just blew it. I’m not even arguing on that point. I was fine with him coming in provided he got results. Which in the end he did. But he had some rough patches. And he talked a lot of ****. Anyways. He’s gone he’s at West Brom and I wish him a painful experience.
It was ott and personal that's the point... You were out there giving it big time and if Bruce ever defended his position you got even worse. That's just what happened mate At least you said well done in the end
I think many supporters live game to game. It’s the emotional aspect. It’s a difficult thing to be able to take a longer wider view of the situation. Particularly in modern times. Generally they are not great judges of managers and should be largely ignored. Bruce was a good example. You had people covering themselves in jizz over Rafa, yet for a similar job, Bruce was the devil reincarnated. Even allowing for none results based benefits, it’s clear supporters judgements are not particularly useful.
In the end I judged him for what it was. He did an ok job for us. Still detest the man. But he kept us up. This season he did dreadful. When we where on that run last season where we couldn’t buy a win he didn’t once accept responsibility. It was always someone else’s fault. It’s irrelevant now. I want him to fail at West Brom because I just don’t like him.
I hate lacelles there's nothing he can do to change that now. If he has a good game I'll say well done 'but' I'll then wait until he makes a mistake and say 'see' If he ever came out defending himself I'd be pissed off. That's how it works but at least I know it.
He did badly. So did Rafa. End of story for me. Both had excuses with Ashley in charge, but I watched **** football for 5.5 seasons. The key point I think Chaos correctly makes is the fans were generally not balanced. When Bruce did well he was lucky or using Rafas tactics etc. When Rafa couldn’t win for 11 games or did badly it was 100% Ashley’s fault. It was pretty pathetic stuff. On the positive side we’ve seen the back of both. Unfortunately we are now seeing Howe get a similar raw deal game to game as Bruce did. Welcome to the managerial position at NUFC Eddie
It’s true. I’m honest enough to say Shelvey and Lascelles will struggle to change my mind. Hayden will struggle convince me he’s a PL midfielder, it’s just how I see football and their abilities. I hate laziness in life, so Shelvey is ****ed. I know for a fact I’ll give them begrudging credit when it’s due. But I’ll secretly be thinking “still **** though”. I’ll then be more harsh when they play badly than say I would be of someone like Max. Some supporters get wound up by Max and him being a bit of a fairy, so they are uber harsh on him. Emotional world of football support.
When people say well done and then go straight on to the ifs and the buts they're being dishonest in their praise. It's what people do when they've been proven wrong and are at a point where they're forced to concede it. In some cases fans refused to credit and just wait it out as long as necessary, but these days with managers you could do that with every manager at any club never mind the managers in the tough/ bottom half premier league jobs.
All this talk of loyalty is nonsense in my opinion. Bruce never thought he’d get another decent job, he’s been offered one, who wouldn’t take it? The issue isn’t really Bruce. It’s idiot owners. Moshiri at Everton is a prime example, what kind of knobhead Everton owner would ever appoint Benitez, of all the people? Who next, Dalglish in as DoF? Approach Villa for Gerrard? Madness. Bruce is no different, how many times does he have to “prove” himself as a dinosaur? Owners just never seem to get it, it’s nonsensical.
Should be easy for WBA to get the new manager bounce that's for sure please log in to view this image
I actually wish Bruce well. I don't hate him. I hated watching us when he was manager, but he was nice to my daughter and nephew at Xmas at the Jesmond Dene Hotel a couple of years back, so I hope he does well for the Baggies. Seemed a nice guy and I always felt he was trying his best for us. Just not very good at his job but he tried. Can't really blame him for accepting the job and trying, he should just never have been appointed.
