I don't but they are cutting it fine Still loads left together in North stand. Probably depends on Keane being announced Less than 3k left in the lower bowl
I think so too. From memory, when they open it up it sells very well even if there are cheaper tickets left downstairs
Had my original ST at the SoL in the north stand for years. It was class. They billed it as the main home end when it first opened and it was packed.
Still don’t understand why they moved the away fans from the corner, they love chucking crap onto the fans downstairs don’t they.
Ruined the atmosphere when they did that! That and moving the black cats down over! It could have been like spurs have done and had one end that was totally focussed for the home fans and been a ‘wall of noise’
Pretty sure the home fans pushed for it to happen at the time, they wanted a full lower bowl of home fans due to the 'advantage' that having the aways in the lower bowl gave. The daft lads were always in the SWC at the beginning. If they come back down then they should go back where they were. The security office is directly behind the Roker end and the police cells are in that end as well. Shame, all the lattice work, captains mural and stuff have been put up now.
100% this. Not gonna lie I supported the move at the time but we don’t get that back and forth anymore and it’s noticeable. Issue now is SS is heavily season carded they couldn’t move them back, and there’s no part of the north lower with split access realistically due to the extension.
Would need to be ruthless in the same way they were when they closed the premier concourse, basically a tough luck you're moving kind of thing. Would be worth it to get that close quarters interaction between the home and away supporters back. I miss the line of stewards/police up the stairs for the matches with a more "intense" rivalry. There were some very funny interactions over those years, loved watching them unfold from the prem concourse!
It's madness really. The Stadium was built with away fans in the South Stand. The police cells are there, there is segregation in the stands and the concourse and it's an easy enough "bubble" to move them through Sheepfold to St.Peters if necessary. Understand it would be hard to move back now, but it was a bonehead move in the first place
I find it ridiculous that some need away fans in a certain area of the ground to create an atmosphere. Just turn up and get behind the lads and it shouldn’t matter.
If they announce Keane tonight I hope they have the food/drink/stewards ready to go for the premier concourse, tomorrow will be very busy at the ticket office.
I don’t think it’s that mate, I was a Main Stand Roker Wing lad for same reason, was kind of a tribal thing through the fence. Wasn’t so good when we were 0-3 after half hour v Spurs on a midweek I recall ha.
