I heard David Connolly on Talksport at lunchtime. Anybody else hear him? I thought he would be much more upbeat about the appointment than he was. Not that he was ultra negative, just cast some doubts. Said he was never an assistant, has to be the main man, so scratch the Villa stuff. Said he wasnt a coach though either, wanted others doing that mostly. Had some interesting views on his man management, some players will love it and some wont. An interesting story too about how Keane dropped him. Said he was concerned about it being 11 years since he ran a team but that he may well wander through the door and give the whole place a big boost which gets everybody going.
Kean was ace at what he did when playing, and still has it in him to coach our defenders to the best in the league, if he does take the job i can only see positives for the team the club and supporters alike
As head coach he will have to. He has all of his badges so that isnt an issue. Be interesting to see if he can organise sessions and execute. Wouldnt mind seeing his first few personally.
Not disagreeing mate, but being a top player doesnt automatically mean you can organise and deliver a top training session. I have seen quite a few ex players deliver coaching sessions and it is fair to say some are better than others. Hopefully Keane is one that can do it well.
He’ll have assistants to organise the sessions. His main task will be to get into these players and get them to perform to the best of their ability. That’s what it needs to get us promoted, and, if he’s appointed, it’s what he’s good at.
Wonder if there’s a flight provisionally booked from Cork for the next home game. Used to love the Irish lads coming over for games.
Upthere over the road (reliable I think) has said the following. Everything has been agreed verbally, Roy Keane will be the next Sunderland manager, it’s just about finalising the verbal agreement. Welcome back Keano
Been reading about Steven Gerard. He has developed a really strong tight team around him mainly made up of ex Liverpool staff Gary McAllister (Assistant Head Coach), Michael Beale (Assistant Head Coach), Tom Culshaw (Technical Coach), Scott Mason (Lead Analyst) and Jordan Milsom (Head of Fitness and Conditioning) Would like to see something like this if Keane gets the job Michael Beale apparently is the main man really well thought of in coaching circles. Interesting stuff about how Gerrard works. Can see Keane doing similar https://trainingground.guru/article...ead Coach, all joined Gerrard's backroom staff.
Thought this earlier today, the silence is deafening from his end, also haven't heard any players voicing an opinion either way...strange.
