Well there is, don’t put up nutters like Corbyn and don’t treat the red wall constituents as if they are racists because they more than most in country wanted out of the EU and could see Corbyns Labour Party were obstructing that, instead of the metro central London party Corbyn presided over, I think it’s called self inflicted.
I understand that this always happens to curb inflation - it's a standard B of E response. However, it means for the people with mortgages, that alongside the price increases of petrol, diesel, food, electricity and gas etc. I know 0.5% is still low, but the poor sods now have their mortgage repayments going up - just when they can least afford it. I personally think that there should be no such thing as a 'variable' mortgage rate. When I buy a car, TV or other item, I do so within my budget and I expect the price to remain static.
Meanwhile today Shell have posted a profit of 12 billion, why not windfall tax them and other fuel giant companies to help with the fuel crisis?
Some of the energy companies are paying NEGATIVE tax ffs. Says everything about the UK today. Can’t upset those shareholders can we. Meanwhile in France in the EU they are capping bills and making EDF take an £8bn hit. Apparently next year is due to be the biggest drop in living standards since comparable records began.
isnt EDF the national power company so governments responsibility?? France like many mountainous areas have massive multi water driven staged generating plants have done for decades ... back into the 60's and before, South of Paris there is wind turbines on the route toward the Millau bridge .. the peoples road non toll they are on both sides and go for miles. Drove down it at night as the blades flashed past past the warning red lights highlighted their existence, occassionally you would see one silhouetted against the pale sky. a dark sentinel winking as you passed! on our regular campsite near Briancon / Embrun the charge for electric was a tenth or less than on a uk site ..............
it’s a great pity that the last labour government never stopped the tax avoiders during their 13 years in office?, of course maybe Blair already knew he would be trousering 6mil from BP I believe for being the Kazakhstan poster boy telling the world what a lovely man their despotic leader is. One day you will realise they are all self serving twats, who laugh at us plebs, all of them.
People have got to realise the world is a different place to what it was 2 years ago. RS went overboard to give people something for nothing.. 1000's took the money when not entitled, 1000's got used to freebie handouts, those scrounging before Covid suddenly had more handouts. I am seriously thinking of signing on at a food bank, watched a programme of what was going in the bags i could save a fortune on my monthly shop and go out 2 or 3 times a week for a couple pints slap up meal and get a taxi home with the savings ........... MAYBE for 1 year starting on the 20th March 2022 the .GOV could step aside and let Labour have the reins, let them do as they wish dont vote against them and then on 20th March 2023 go back to "how the parliament was on 19th March 2022" Probably wouldnt take 10 years to get back to Feb:2019 .. more likely 15 years! or a bankrupt economy, a country 7th out of 7 of the G7 and having to look forward to inflation at 10% .. tax rises companies going bust or moved out unemployment at 15% COVID strain omicron 21 killing off 300 a day, hospitals overwhelmed, supermarkets without food ... food banks empty .. riots on the streets... crime increased to double [ mostly bag snatch's as people leave supermarkets with items they could buy or afford ] interest rates at 15% like the 80's. I sort of appreciate the situation we have, it could be worse, a lot worse, sadly there is to many soft people in the world today all wanting something for nothing, free hand outs and free food .. we are a democratic country not a communist one, want a holiday home or a nice car ... then work for it, get a job pay your taxes join the human race.... currently more jobs than people to fill them... to many not afraid to scrounge , but many conditioned not to work for a basic wage............
Hang on a minute. Are you really blaming the government that was in charge 13 years ago for this mess?
And now his Head of Policy, who’s worked with him for 14 years, is resigning as he refuses to apologise. Even his Tory workmates know Starmer had sod all to do with it.
Jesus H Christ, where did on earth did I say that? I am saying they could have sorted out the tax avoiding companies and did not do it, ask yourself why? I am saying they all talk a good game but never actually do what is right. One thing is for sure as we found when labour first gained power, they said they would repeal the tories union laws and never did because it was popular with the vast majority of the electorate and of course the unions had paved the way for Thatchers massive victory and they never taxed the tax avoiders and a pound to a pinch of **** had they done so the tories would not have reversed that decision because it would be popular with the vast majority of the electorate. Don’t ask yourself why I will tell you because from day 1 of Blair’s victory he courted big business because he needed them on his side. Sometimes you have to look at history and politics with both eyes and not just one.
absolutely not, they are to blame for the note left when they handed over ... sorry no money left ... where did the £tr go.... ? dont be silly, or try to deflect! most points valid or not I address and certainlydo not deflect ... How can you or anyone go along with that as a definitive? As was stated all evidence was destroyed and KS apologised, why apologise if nothing to do with him? only thing certain is it happened on his watch! AND HARD TO BELIEVE in such a high profile case he had no inkling. YOU ARE A PROSECUTOR, a case comes along that would put you on the map for ever, you just give up? ... really! You dont seek senior advice on how to proceed? ..really
The money went on clearing up a banking crises, nothing to do with Labour, but they had to deal with it, much like the Tories have had to deal with COVID this time, do you really believe there is anything left in the coffers right now, no, but on the whole not Tories fault, we’ll if you don’t count the £bn’s wasted on useless PPE.
A banking crisis stoked by Gormless Brown, who ignored the warning from Vince Cable 18 months earlier.
Nonsense, in fairness to cable he was the only one who saw the potential problem, the tories certainly didn’t, it was Brown who found a way out of it though. We’d have been in deep dodo had the Tories been in power. Also it was Brown who transferred control of interest rates to the Bank Of England, how much has that saved ordinary people? , millions, and allowed interest rates to remain low for a generation, and you call him Gormless , I think it’s you that are gormless.
Ah right personal insults. Is this the same Gormless Brown who sold off all of our gold reserves? The same Gormless Brown who raided peoples pension funds and then totally ignored Vince Cable because he knew best, yep he was a ****ing star. I won’t lower myself to fire an insult at you. Labour invited big business into number 10 from day 1 including the big banksters, unregulated them and they then ****ed us and the government over. As the Americans said at the time it was a world banking crash stoked by the UK.
