Nicola Sturgeon relies on Bank of England amid record deficit

Even as the UK Government’s finances are projected to recover to a deficit of 1.5pc of GDP by 2026-27, spending in Scotland will run ahead of tax receipts to the tune of 7.5pc of GDP according to Mr Phillips.

That is equivalent to £640 per person in the UK overall, compared to £2,975 per head in Scotland.

As a result English workers can expect to keep subsidising spending in the north indefinitely, as was the case before Covid struck.

UK should just give Scotland independence and then stand well back .

Would end up a basket case economy like Greece .

Nothing like totally changing the subject...

13 billion pounds wasted on what? Try making points that actually make any sense.

Which bunch of Remain losers have come up with this fantasy about the negative costs of Brexit? No context.

Labour are irrelevant. I merely pointed out that Big State Labour would not have dared to allow a private sector expert to do anything that the Big State has the ability to totally screw up. They would have nationalised everything as an emergency measure in February 2020 and instantly turned the country into another Venezuela.

Stupid woman misses out the relevant facts to have a vacuous dig at Boris – but that appears to be her reason for having a social media account.

Under EU law, VAT on energy cannot be reduced below 5 per cent if already in place when their law was enacted.

Spain reduced its VAT on energy from 21 per cent to 10 per cent for low energy use customers. It also suspended the 7 per cent tax on energy generators. It did that last year, so this is reheating of old news.

It is true, however, that as we are now not subject to EU law, we could remove the 5 per cent VAT on energy; and this was indicated six years ago at the time of Brexit.

In January, Labour’s Ed Miliband proposed a £200 payment to help with energy price increases. Astonishingly, one of the measures announced by Rishi Sunak is a £200 payment. It seems that Labour is already running the country by proxy but they keep shouting at Johnson and Sunak to resign.

Now that we have seen what Michael Gove seems to think is the blue print for “Levelling Up”, it is now confirmed that this is just a reheating of a failed Gordon Brown policy from the first decade of this century.

The reason that London and the South East is the richest part of the country is because most of the old manufacturing industries of the North were allowed to dwindle and disappear as the country switched to service industries. The post Industrial North failed to adapt and was left behind.

More spending on the dumbed down education system in various failing parts of the North is not going to result in much change. Moving public sector jobs to the North generally creates low skilled low status non jobs that cannot compete for the best talent, which usually opts to leave and head to the South East.

Spending more on transport to the outlying reaches of the North, such as the post Industrial wasteland of Kingston Upon Hull, simply makes it easier to leave as there is no real reason to arrive. The clowns running Hull live in a fantasy where they are going to attract lots of high skill high wage jobs to a city that has always been in the bottom ten of the education league tables.

Who needs more regional mayors? This is just another layer of money wasted on bureaucrats, taking taxpayers’ money directly from the top and spending it on their pet ideological projects. Look forward to more bus lanes, more cycle lanes and more measures against the motorist.

Whilst Bolshevik Boris and Socialist Sunak have already demonstrated their Big State credentials, it seems that Gove is heading to the Left under the delusion that winning over Red Wall voters will compensate for the Conservative voters that they lose with their unconservative policies.

Maybe. But it doesn’t help us here in poor old Blighty, that while all this **** is happening, we have the most useless, untrustworthy, incompetent shower of chiselling ****bags in the history of Parliament. Does it?

Not one, but two of the PMs advisors have resigned today. The game is surely now up for giant toddler and comedy Prime Minister, Boris “Spaffer” Johnson. The only question is, will the millions of idiots who voted for the fool do the decent thing and set fire to themselves in front of Parliament?

I do hope the comedy value from his replacement is at least as good, and you lefties develop a bit more imagination in your whines about them, and don't just keep on and on rehashing the same tired pap. <ok>

After all the fuss about Boris, it's going to be funny as **** watching the realisation dawn that they've shot themselves in the foot and no Boris means the polls will swing away from Labour again. :emoticon-0102-bigsm
