I wouldnt be against it personally. Nicky Butt another who has experience like it. He will need an assistant as there doesnt appear a ready made on in house.

being honest here mate, i would be upset if you stopped posting...we both know we have not always seen eye to eye but i always like to read your posts, you do not jump in to follow the herd so to speak, you consider the options and give your opinion and that can offer me another angle to look at, i think we can all sometimes get caught up in our own way of thinking/looking at things and at times we have some 'pre-set opinion' in our heads so it is good to have alternatives thrown in there as well.

keane would not have been my first thought either, mainly due to the current model at the club...but i chewed things over and i now feel, as gambles go, (and every appointment is just that) then keane is the type of person that will get the squad sitting up and fired up again as i think that is what has been lacking recently, my main worry is he might be a bit 'overpowering' for the young lads, if they can handle that then they will handle anything.

The more I think about this the more I like the idea.
I reckon the best we could expect with LJ would be playoffs.
If Keane gets things going we could make top two.
And in the playoffs I much would rather have Keane than Johnson.
Having said that, he’s going to turn us down isn’t he?
    Ithics.

I suppose my concern is that we've panicked and pushed the big red famous person button in the hope his sheer weight of personality gets us over the line. Just seems like a panic and contrary to everything else we've done so far. I suppose like you I expected a City Group-type appointment if we were maintaining that (Manning springs instantly to mind), or at very least a middle-ground appointment like Neil, rather than this roll of the dice. Looks insane if we don't go up and we got back to Plan A again in the summer. Increasingly feel like we've been duck-like on the surface, serenely with the grand playing out, and now our panicked legs have been exposed. That's right, KLD is a big ****ing duck.

The thing I like about this forum is that, as long as you're not obviously on a deliberate wind up, you can post an opinion and argue it with someone without being drowned out with abuse. I understand that's not the case with the other place. There are some fine, fine people on this forum and I've probably disagreed with all of them at one point or another. All my favourite ones at least. I've also learnt a lot from them and, on some occasions, got some useful advice. I live outside the region now and don't get to as many games as I'd like so you lot are one of my links to the club, my club. I always try to give an honest opinion, without any kind of agenda.
Always good to discuss things with you.

I'd take Roy Keane tomorrow. We were bottom of the Championship when he arrived and he took us straight up as champions. He was too abrasive to last, but should have a more rounded approach 15 years later. Let's face it, who else are we going to get apart from Neil Warnock and, possibly, Nigel Pearson...?

There is of course the old adage of 'Never go back'.

However we already have Defoe so we might as well go for broke.

Atm, we need Wigan/Rotherham to lose several games for us to have a chance.. so I doubt we have anything to lose by bringing a celebrity like Keane, rather than appointing another LJ clone.

Roy is the sort of man that if after 17 games he has lost most of them he would up sticks anyhow.

I suspect as long as the players give 100% and do not shirk challenges etc. They will get a lift as well.

As to whether he will come/be appointed or how he and KLD will get on, I do not have a scoobie.

At least use a decent bloody analogy if you're going to try a wind up.

Ha! I've still got faith in KLD but I think probably my concerns are similar to yours. Keane is a gamble, I think. The excitement its generating might be enough to get us promoted though. I suppose we'll see.

Couldn’t disagree anymore. Keane would want our best footballers playing - O’Nien isn’t one of those.
