In Kevin Kilbanes opinion, who had the heart of a pea.

Keane will always divide opinion and as with most people and players some will flourish and some get the hump.

If he comes it could be the lift the players need or a car crash, but you could say the same about any manager.

Either way we have 17 games to go and it's going to be a nervy ride

You'd assume so. He's not daft, he knows the game has changed and you can't just lay into players like Clough and Fergie did. There's also a difference between Keane the Pundit and Keane the Head Coach. 90% of what he says on Sky is for a reaction and that's why Sky love him

  3. Agree,it's not like he'd been on Mars for 14 years. He's been involved with the game, particularly at international level and as a summariser. He will be well aware of the way the game has changed and moved.

I hate the likes, very farcefook type shìte. An "agree or disagree" option would be better lol.

Although I don't agree with you I understand and respect your views mate. But like I say, none of us can be sure who will come in and be a success.

The main thing is we have a good solid custodian of the club now in KLD.
So if whoever gets the job fails, we move on.

I was disappointed to a point Johnson got sacked but I want us to move on quickly now.

Really? It was only 6 years ago he singled out players publicly as assistant manager for ROI so he clearly hasnt changed. You only have to watch him on Tv now as a pundit to know he'll never change his ways in singling players out.

  6. Also, our club is being run in a totally different way now and it's hard to believe that KLD and KS are going to appoint a coach who's a loose cannon about to drive a coach and horses through the culture and philosophy they're working so hard to establish. Any appointment is going to have to buy into the way they want it done.
That was likely a major factor in LJ getting the job in the first place, and,if Roy is as interested as we think he is,he will already have taken that on board.

I'm excited about the prospect of Keane though ai would expect more commitment this time around, as I m sure it was said that he only travelled in 3 days a week which isn't what we need right now.

As for the disciplinarian talk, for me I don't mind it but if I remember the first thing he did was put pictures of old SAFC successes all over the stadium, including tunnel, reminding the players what it means to wear our shirt. They could have done with that approach a few times over the last 6 years so I'm all for it

Keane already had issues with McCarthy.
He never spoke to Keane as a player in Ireland then had a go at him under Jack Charlton.
Where Keane put him in his place.

Then McCarthy claimed Keane faked injury, basically calling him a liar. I don't blame Keane tbh.

  9. Mate,I'm not saying he's flawless. What I am saying is that we need a solution to our immediate problem and someone to get into these players and get the best out of them. We're mostly all agreed that we have the quality in the squad, but time is running out. Whatever his methods, Keane is a proven motivator, which is exactly what we need.

This is another concern. I recently read Jonathan Wilson's biography of Clough. Always thought of him as a legend, big hero for us obviously, did amazing things with small clubs, I love the stories ex-players tell about him and the quick-witted comments in interviews. I was looking forward to reading the book. Unfortunately, the nagging doubts I had in the back of my mind came to the fore and I got the impression of an erratic character with a chip on his shoulder who wouldn't get anywhere in modern football. Modelling yourself on him isn't the way to be a success.

Absolutely. We have 17 games left to achieve what everyone wants. Timing for the new man is perfect because on paper the next 3 games look winnable and we can build momentum. That might just be the spark to get us flying.

I think he would/will make an impact at first, he'd shake us up just like he did last time round, and players would be in awe of him.
Its the long term effects im worried about though, i think his management style is only effective for so long, and then players start turning against him and hate having him around the place tearing strips off them at any given opportunity.
For the short term he's exactly what we need, so if we can agree a deal till May then fair enough. Its what happens after that that worries me.

It’s double Emmerdale on a Thursday marra, he’ll want this done and dusted before the show starts. Probably before Holly gets his heart racing on This Morning anawl.

Surely KLD and Speakman will be laying out our philosophy to Keane and it will be up to him to buy into that, or not.
One thing for sure its going to be interesting

Heard that story before. Keane was out of order. I don't see disrespecting authority or walking out because you don't like something as having backbone. If something's tough you keep going and show you can beat it and if someone calls you out for being out of order you accept it.
