Burnley put out a full U23 side tonight in a game against Wolves. They should have kept some of those players back to back up the first team.
Odd comment on SSN - "it will be rearranged for a future date" If they can do past dates, can we go back to the time we won 7-4 there?
Yes, I have to say I don’t understand this. Same with Arsenal. If you don’t have first team players you go to your stiffs, if no one there then...
If those u23 players have not played EPL games then they are not deemed to have experience and don't count towards a matchday squad. Then you have the original 25 man squad (we only put in a 24 man squad, I don't know how many Burnley put in) and pre season it was agreed that players get more injuries due to covid interruptions so they count in these instances. So 25 - covid cases & isolating cases - injuries = less than 13 therefore match postponed. In practice we can now all see the rules are wrong but they have to remain for the whole season. If we were in this position I'm sure we would want a postponement as well and to be fair the first match was postponed due to us. I'm certain Burnley would prefer to play as they are going to have real trouble further down the road with scheduling. The postponement helps both teams get stronger for when we do play them, hopefully soon!
I heard TV might want them to play Villa that week? I realise this should not come into the equation when rearranging the game.
Excuse me , but I will, with my grandson, who goes to school in Hebden Bridge - all the non plastic Manure/Citeh fans support Burnley, so he has a hard time in his WFC top.
Stayed at the White Lion in Hebden Bridge on three trips up to Burnley. Not a happy hunting ground for me (4 losses on 4 visits) but my friends and I love the village and loved our time up there. Met "new" friends from the Watford Internet Group in the Mechanics in Burnley and we've been pals, beyond football, ever since... 25 years this year.
Burnley requested the postponement when only 2 of their players had tested positive for Covid, although there were also a number of injured players. Personally I think that Burnley were pulling a fast one because they wanted to sign a new striker (to replace Woods) and to wait for Cornet to return from ACON before they played Watford. I have read that Watford had 14 players isolating when they requested the first postponement in December. Today the Premier League has issued a new directive that a club must have a minimum of 4 positive cases (as well as other missing players) in order to request a postponement. Matches should still go ahead if the club has 13 fit players and a goalkeeper.
Just our luck - not only is their best player returning they are also in for a striker from Germany who got 20 goals last season so probably pretty decent. Oh well - hopefully Roy can work his magic.
This is gonna be on tele too I assume? Only game I saw in the PL for Sat. We really need to win this, draws are going to get us no where. I hope Woy doesnt go QSF too much.
