A mate of mine as a birthday present got me a Sunderland shirt with his name on the back. I still think its hanging in a wardrobe somewhere....
They can do what they like over there, I’ve not been back since I left and came on here. It was like leaving a riot and stepping onto our coastal leas; lush green grass, bright blue skies, gentle breeze from the sea, the only sound that of a skylarks undulating song… from bedlam to sanity.
I just wonder if Keane has had time to reflect on his mistakes, when he came in he made a massive impact, making sure everything was done professionally and the players knew which club they played for and what it meant to the supporters. In his own admission he got a lot of the other things wrong. Has he changed, has he matured, could he come in and work in the structure we have. If he could I think it could be what both him as us need, but that is on the basis that he can adapt to the change. If its the Roy Keane we had first time around, and dont get me wrong I adore the bloke for what he did , then it certainly wouldn't be the right choice
I dont think Keane will ever get his head around the fact that the players he's managing will never be anywhere near as good and dedicated as he was. Thats his major weakness.
Agree, Keane would be a choice from the heart and not the head. Definite no from me as much as I loved the magic carpet ride. I haven’t seen any big names work for us either, McMenemy, Wilkinson, O’Neill, Moyes. Best choices have been up and coming or new coaches, Denis Smith, Peter Reid, Roy Keane and ermmm… quickly brush past Terry Butcher hoping no-one notices.
Imagine if Keano came back...who cares if he wasn't successful. What a rollercoast of a ride!! And he fkn hates the mags!!
Our are to get promoted, simple as that no ifs no buts! It’s utterly shameful that club like ours could well be spending a 5th season at this level. I’m a million miles away from being convinced that this new approach (whatever that may be) is somehow going to lead us to new heights. Nothing has been done so far to convince me.
Sorry if it has been mentioned already, but if someone is in for the Doncaster game who will be taking the team??
The new set up may or may not work in the long term but its here now and its beginning to bed in. Tearing it all up and starting again from scratch by appointing a manager who won't or can't work with it isn't going to increase our chances of being promoted.
Between Keane and Defoe, the lift in atmosphere would be unbelievable. Whether it's enough to get us over the line remains to be seen.
Whether it's Keane, Warnock, McCarthy or whoever, they'll have to work within the set up we have now. If they can't do that, then they won't get the job, simple as that
