I think it would be a massive mistake. A heart ruling head signing. The bloke has never managed in L1. Hasn't been a manager for 11 years. None of it makes sense

Unless he's part of a package that includes a good coach

Totally agree. As a club we have set off on a new path. Progressive, modern, flexible call it what you will but I'm liking this new approach.
Young players attacking football. Yes it didn't quite work under Johnson but on the good days we got a glimpse of what is possible.
I'm happy to trust the club and wouldn't be surprised at all if we end up with someone like the Australian lad.

Not sure anyone has a clue yet. Club are good at keeping their cards tight to their chest. Just got to look how little money is in the betting.
Few mentions of Patrick Kisnorbo and suddenly he's favourite with some bookies

  6. I've been thinking about this over the last few days and I think the best thing to do would be to appoint Warnock on a short term contract.
We need someone to get us out of this league, and he can do it.And,in the meantime,we line up the next bright young coach who fits the profile and buys into the philosophy, ready to set them away when promotion is done.

Wigan have a very tough February. I reckon they might only get 4 points from the 5 games. I reckon we'll get about 12 this month from our 6, and that includes 3 draws.

It would mean they have 4 games in hand, but we would be 6 points ahead of them.

There was a little sarcasm in my post… ie the stereotype Canadians always follow everything with A! I’m southern

That we haven’t named a caretaker suggested to me that we were certainly confident of being sorted by the weekend

I hate this whole ‘bright new coach’ thing.

It’s as if anyone who’s beyond age of 50 and doesn’t talk in philosophies and processes is out of touch with today’s game!

    Absolute shyte!

The ‘next gen’ of coaches/managers haven’t all of a sudden reinvented the wheel.

Who ever it is will be guaranteed to divide the fans and cause months worth of debate. Personally I loved the idea of Keane coming back but as others have said I'm not sure that works for the club. What ever we do we have to stick with the long term plan for the club and the philosophy otherwise we will be stuck in a perpetual cycle of failure. If that means hiring a complete left field coach from Australia fine by me, if it is someone like Keane, great too. Not looking forward to the meltdowns over the road though

Its got nothing to do with their age, its whether or not they'd work within the set up we've got now. The likes of Warnock, Keane etc appear unlikely to be suited to working in that way. They may want to do it that way, they may be able to do it that way but the way they've worked previously has been different. There are plenty of foreign managers, where this kind of set up is more traditional, in their 60s and 70s that would be comfortable working that way. Indeed, I know managers in non-league in their 60s who would embrace this approach. But a lot of the names mentioned, such as Warnock, seem to be of a completely different type of coach to the ones that would suit our needs.
