It's quite amazing how many on here weren't going to be happy unless we improved upon last season and even if we go on a great run and finish top half again it still won't be good enough.
I'll be happy to finish safe TBH. I thought after our great first season back that we might push on, but injuries probably scuppered that.
Great post Billy. I would also add Brentford into that list added Eriksen who could play but can he still? and even possibly Southampton who like us did very little in the January window
I think that is part of the problem, we did so well last year, it created an unrealistic target of a European place this season. It's been said many times before, we got the seasons results the wrong way round.
That's possibly true but everyone also knows that the 2nd season after promotion can be very challenging.
to be fair Jammy. As a football fan should you be happy if your side is worse than the previous season? I’ve not been happy with performances even before the injury crisis. You can’t live on ‘remember how **** we used to be?’ Professional sports teams seek to improve every year. You can bet your bottom dollar bielsa hasn’t been happy this year so why should fans be? it’s perfectly possible to think bielsa has been brilliant but to be disappointed with how this year has gone. They’re not mutually exclusive. But at the same time in my view it’s displaying a very short memory to start demanding heads roll because we haven’t had it all our way.
Last season was a Beano, we loved not aving to sulk on Monday morning. When we got battered it was by much better players. We coasted in real terms and everyone loved us this season has been awoorry in every match and has seemed unfair that we can have 13 players injured and some top teams have a player with covid and get it called. Never known any club have so many injuries which are mostly done in matches, by the way. We have enough to stay up
if you’re going to try and counter-insult me Eric, albeit in a rather predictable fashion, it works better without a typo
Have we been worse though ? Results have been worse but there have been plenty of mitigating circumstances in my opinion. There's also the added value factor that we've had 8 teenagers make PL debuts.
But we madexa big fuss of signing these future stars. Then when we play them it's a surprise.... Why have them then.
Teenagers playing for us in the PL is a massive positive and some like Joffy, Hjelde and Cresswell look like they have a future. We've also brought Meslier & Struijk through since promotion...definite progress there as well.
