Being of the 'old school' it seems unlikely that he'd be a good fit for our set up. Tactically, he's probably not as old fashioned as people like to think but he does tend to be more direct than would appear to be the preference within the club.
From the same bloke who confidently said Johnson wouldn't be sacked only for it to be announced he'd been sacked a couple hours later. About as accurate as the Iraqi information minister, Comical Ali, during thd gulf war
Cos he’s ****. He had 2 stabs at Championship, total disasters. Was about to get peddled but they made a flyer last season and he got kept in, only to show again he simply can’t cut the next level. Didn’t they lose double figures straight as they came down or summat? It’s far to big a job for him now, and the ongoing next level part is stratospheres above his level.
I don't know why but once Alex Neil was mentioned I thought actually that's a really good shout, he's got success in promotions and there's something about him that I quite like, not sure what but I don't dislike him like Lennon and others that have been mentioned
I know people who know him through his time at Peterborough. Dour, didn't command a lost of respect , bit of a pushover at times, too nice, that sort of thing. Pretty sure Hull fans never took to him either despite them going up last season etc.
Wouldn’t really want Warnock or a temp manager until the end of the season. The reason being if he/they get us up whether automatic or through the play offs he may get another contract for the season after. I don’t think he would then take us any further and we end up back in the situation of looking for another manager. For me we take our time I don’t think it will be long anyway and get someone who is going to take us forward long term and build us for the future. We must stop changing manager every year and get some continuity. Just my own personal view.
Of the two most recently mentioned on this thread, I'm not sure they'd play the type of football that the hierarchy wants. Could be wrong, just my interpretation, but Alex Neil can be quite direct, and, according to the report below, McCann doesn't really play a possession-based game. Alex Neil: https://footballbh.net/2020/03/28/p...egies-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics/ McCann (when at Doncaster): https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/grant-mccann-hull-city-tactics-3012552
I suppose there is a decent chance that we won't know him when we sign him. Fair enough by me. But of those who are possible to recruit, fit what seems to be our long term aim, have already done a bit, and whose name I know, I'd be considering Neil Critchley. This bloke barely played pro football, but had a good few years with Liverpool's young teams before he went to Blackpool. He got them up on nowt, will definitely keep them up on nowt and has worked with some good coaches, What he has done there is mightily impressive.
I reckon he's a damn good shout. Would he leave Blackpool though? https://upthemightypool.co.uk/2021/...-blackpool-attack-like-the-worlds-best-teams/
His Hull side got smashed 8 at Wigan in the championship amd both went down. My fear for him is some of the things Jonhson got tagged as he may get the same. He has had some very bad runs of form (streaky?) although most managers do in reality. He talks about things like 'the process' and 'philosophy'. These arent really reasons to avoid him, but I do fear for him if he comes in.
Maybe not. And he would cost because of his contract. Just a hunch about him because of what he's done there.
Had an unbelievable start to his managerial career. Was unluck to have his Norwich team relegated on 39 points or something, but us and Allardyce had a hand in that. Seems to have stagnated since then though. The Norwich team that went down should have done much better and Preston doesnt look a good record to me. I am not keen on him if I am honest, doesnt seem to have an appeal to him. Probably wrong...
Whoever it is if they are in for Saturday they are going to have a hell of a baptism Probably the Defoe bounce along with the donation to the Bradley Lowrey foundation But ticket sales are going mental https://safcticketing.azurewebsites.net/api/tickets
Been selling really quickly, considering it's only Tuesday. I think they said they sell a lot on Fridays as well so it should be an excellent crowd.
