Not convinced the club and Keane would really be that interested in each other. Keane the way the clubs run and I'm not sure the club would want someone with a hard nut, no nonsense rep I think they will be looking for a arm around the shoulder type manager (same reason I thought there was no chance of Ferguson when he was mentioned).

I think you need to have a bit of both and know when to use which approaching. I think Keane might be a bit better on that side these days.

I would love Keane back for no other reason than he’s Roy Keane.

I wasn't either as I believe in stability and hoped he grew with the club.

Agree with the system working and does that make head coaches expendable ?
If so, this makes the thought of Keane as a head coach even more desirable due to his stature imo.

    Exactly, imagine the scenes.
I bet the stadium would be packed to the rafters.

Yeah, I think it does make them expendable. Or more expendable than a traditional manager would be. There's stability in that in itself.

Again a stumbling block with Keane maybe, unless he's changed with age.

What am I talking about, we're not getting Keane are we ?

    Mind we've got Defoe <whistle> :D

Sounds like they aren’t interested in an interim don’t it.

I thought we might stop-gap it u til end of season as options if we are a league up will be far stronger for long term.

I wouldn’t rule out Keane. Available, loved being manager here, would possibly like the professional set up. Possibly put off if he doesn’t like the individuals involved as is Roy Keane

So it sounds like interest from all over the place. Add to that they should have had a list of candidates they thought could slot in. Looks like we have bought players to allow a continuation of the front foot attacking style we have been playing / implementing.

Of those who are topping the betting lists I struggle to believe in them. It would be cooincidence if McCann were on our list prior to him getting the sack I think. That said he is very similar to Johnson in style (but I fear he has similarities to Johnson that some of our fans wouldnt like). Lennon I cant see the fit. He has a passion and is a grafter, but if you look at his Bolton record it doesnt stand up. Assuming they are prepared to take their time, like KLD says, we can probably discount Warnock etc as you could just do that today. So I think we are in the market for a long term commitment to a manager, probably one we have yet to see mentioned.

Maybe someone throws their hat in the ring, who they werent expecting, and they think they might play a wildcard then who knows. Keane would fit that bill I suppose, as could an Henry or even a Phil Neville. It wouldnt beyond realism to imagine they reach out, particularly Henry perhaps.

All in all I am happy to trust them to make a pick. We might get a big surprise.

To save time doing the interviews KLD should ask Clockstander who he signed up as manager and then go for whoever Clocky told him he signed.

Yes, it certainly looks like there won't be a stop gap appointment made. The club statement said that they would let us know what the coaching set up would be between now and when a new Head Coach is appointed and the fact they are interviewing already would appear to indicate that this time will be short.

"The process to appoint a new Head Coach will commence immediately and a further update regarding the club’s interim coaching set-up will be communicated shortly."

  16. This is the dilemma. Given that our priority is to get out of this league asap,do we go for someone like Warnock on a short term deal?
One of the problems with that is that he may not feel he has the players to play the way he wants. We have a young, talented, but inexperienced squad in the main, who are obviously being assembled with a certain philosophy in mind, which may preclude someone like Warnock from doing the job effectively.
The alternative is to get a more progressive coach, who buys into the philosophy and who we feel will develop the best out of the squad over time, but who isn't necessarily the immediate fix to get out of this division this year.

Now this would be interesting. I wouldn't usually be interested in a big name, I'd rather see a Liam Manning/Rob Edwards-type appointment but this is one that might fit the bill. Based on what he wanted to do with Monaco, he'd play the type of football that the squad seems to be built for. And maybe he already knows Sartori...

Is being 72 too old to manage ?

I don't know what he's doing now, and he's never managed in the third division, but Arsene Wenger would surely suit our criteria (apart from not being young) and he'd probably do a cracking job :emoticon-0112-wonde

I'd be amazed if the vast majority of Arsenal fans aren't missing him :emoticon-0148-yes:

I can't see Keane coming back. Doubt he'd work in the structure and I wouldn't trust him not to fall out with half the squad before the end of the season
