Not to mention the fact that the fee was determined by a release clause and not necessarily what he's currently worth. We got £35 for Perez and Carroll, neither of whom were worth anything near that at the time granted they weren't release clause fees which makes it even more ****ing remarkable. My point really is that Burnley obviously decided that should they get an offer for Wood that they would want £25m to find a replacement for his, which for a striker is nowt but for a club like Burnley is probably where they are at (no disrespect).

No way should he be getting stick or written off after just two games. He's joined the club when confidence is very low given our league position and run of results....it's not his sole job to lift us out of the mire and he can only put away the chances that are presented to him.....that's his ****ing job. We've not given him many to date but I suspect with the new arrivals that may improve somewhat and also when Wilson comes back. Let's judge him at the end of the season over 20 games....not ****ing 2 for christ sake !!

I would agree that Chris Wood would be regarded an expensive purchase for Mike Ashely. But for our owners, perhaps not?

The avoidance of a Seville-style ramping up the price every few days was avoided, and a striker acquisition - at a moment where we didn't have a single fit striker - was instantly made. Nobody needs sacking for that man! You must consider that Premiership clubs hate us: most (surprisingly Villa) and Brighton aside are not going to help us. Man U even hurt their own player - even wrecking his England career - to stop us improving. Let's hope Chris Wood can get even 5 or 6 goals that will help the job in the next few months.

Overall I'm happy after the slightly disappointing final day.

5 players. 4 look like they will be first choices for the team. Wood gives us options up top and means we at least have a striker in the short term. So we've no doubt improved the squad.

Relegation is still 50/50 for me. An additional attacking player either a starter or something from the bench would have moved it further in our favour.

I'm not too disappointed in missing out Ekitike. The 5 minutes of YouTube clips I've seen he looks good on the break. Both Almiron and Maxim can do that role. We need some one who can thread a pass when the teams are sitting back.

I think to stay up we need to start getting something out of Almiron again. I don't recall him having a good game when Maxim is playing well or since Howe joined. Or maybe if Fraser keeps improving he'll provide the spark.

If we can stay up the summer transfer window could be awesome. There are so many positive signs in terms of the quality of player we went for and the appetite of those to come here.

If we go down I hope we can keep 80% of the team given the promise of the future. The season after we could be having a Keegan like 1st season in the league.

25 million for a striker with 10 goals a season in the prem isn't that expensive. We were desperate and they got him in thankfully

Weghorst might not be upto this league. It happenels alot.. It would've been a bigger gamble than going with wood and neither would be starting next season.

Forgive me, but I really think our fans need to just say well done and thank their lucky stars these owners fought to buy this club.

They could've walked away but they fought tooth and nail for 18 months and still went ahead even with relegation looking very possible.

It's a fantastic time to be a nufc fan.. Let's just enjoy it and support the club no matter what provided they're trying. Its all we wanted and we should never forget it.

Relegation? Sometimes you've got to go backwards and that's life, but relegation isn't going to define the next 20 years.

Get where you are coming from but like I say there are a world of other strikers available out there - Wilson's injury shouldn't have been the catalyst for a striker hunt it's something we should have been planning since before the window and a bit like Trippier been ready to sign on the dotted line on the 2nd January.

It was, as you say, a panic buy where our hand was forced and no negotiation was needed, if he gets 6+ goals though I'll be on the humble pie thread filling myself up while coming down off the copious amounts of LSD I'd have had to eat to see Chris Wood scoring 6 goals.

Wood was probably the best they could get. The other options were obviously looked at the people that know more and better than us regarding the players and the financial benefits decided wood was the right man for the job.

Have we lost a game since he signed? No, so I'd argue that means it's worked so far

Try Marriage Guidance, Dorty. You'll have to tell your wife, Gayle, at some time that you don't like her.

It does baffle me when the owners don’t just take a punt on Costa.

Watching that and knowing we’re the richest club on earth and EVERYONE hates us anyway, meant I could take it in good heart; I thought it was fun and well made!!

The truth may well set you free, but I think I'd rather have a striker on a free right now

All for Diego Costa - think it goes to show there were options out there available but we panic bought and took the easy route.

I'll support Chris Wood while he is here and for the third or fourth time (before people wet themselves) I hope to Lord Buddha-Jah he proves me wrong but I can't see him being the answer to our 6 month prayers.

You may be right but if he gets around his “average “ number of goals we stay up, job done.
