When you say battered Newcastle we had 4 shots on target? I did watch the game, I thought we were the better team but we were worse than Newcastle in the final third. I wouldn’t say we battered them though and now they’ve strengthened considerably in January they won’t be going down
Only if the bits of the jigsaw actually fit together. To be honest I would prefer Watford, Burnley and Norwich to be relegated. Newcastle are a proper club.
They have a decent coach who got the beating of us and before this window the poor players were not fitting the jigsaw so replace them with better players and either way they’ve improved
Good luck Elland finding enough material for a breakfast debate tomorrow morning, you’re going to have to dig deep into a barrel finding anything to report on after this deadline. Bollocks all on transfer rumours and bollocks all in through the door.
Some of the hysteria on here is quite funny. Game before last we played our best game of the season in the win at West Ham. The one before that we had enough in the tank to beat Burnley. Should have got something against Newcastle. That’s all with some of our best players missing. Anyway, the reason I say funny is, if we had signed DVB or Ali the same people would have been lambasting the club for signing players with 7 first team appearances between them all season. Dan Burn and Matt Target would have been “who, why have the club no ambition?” signings. Lingard etc would have been “why are we wasting so much money on wages do we never learn”? O’Brien would have been lucky to get through an average 45 minutes before being written off as a Championship level nobody. The weird thing is, all of those clueless buffoons running the club have us in the Premier League playing our best football for 20 years (I grant you this season has stuttered but pedantics are boring). Your home lives must be too good. Have a row with the missus, throw one of the kids out, punch your neighbour on the bugle or something just give the club a break. Mind you, if I could actually get tickets I might be screaming from the rooftops about us not using the cash on the squad
Just disappointed mate, we’ve been a decent central midfield player short for too long now. Even with Pablo departing we as a club have neglected to fill the void, we just plug it with the likes of Klich, Roberts and Rodrigo. We were in the same hopeful position last January, we accepted the window last year acknowledging the problem would be best fixed in the summer. The summer transfer window come and went and we brought yet another winger. I’m probably over reacting, maybe just too much expectation on my part
6 or 7 more points in the bag and I don't think there would have been many clamouring to sign more players in January or complaining if we didn't. Although there are some who would complain anyway. We have the players to stay up comfortably, if fit, and some talent in the U23 that needs to be brought into the first team in a managed way. We will survive but I'm going to need a repeat prescription for valium to get through the next few months.
At least we don't have to play them or Burnley again come to think of it. Just lookiing at some of the forthcoming fixtures and I'm a bit nervous.
I do actually get it mate but, in perspective, since promotion we have brought 2 Spanish Internationals (Rodrigo is not my favourite either but the intention and money were there), 1 German International, 1 Welsh International and a player who is now a Brazilian International. Add in all the money spent on young players with potential, a player from Barcelona and making the future French International 'Keeper permanent, I have to question sometimes if this is the same Leeds United I have followed for the last 50 years. The answer is no tbh, we have been teased with brief success of course but, when we went through Administration, Bates, Cellino etc I would have eaten one of my own nads to see this again in my lifetime, there have been times when I wasn't even sure if LUFC would outlive me. I know nobody wants relegation, I absolutely love my club but, I still would in the Championship and, at least I would get to see them and have a few pints with Shako, OLOF, Chesh, Wakey, Jock etc. Personally can't cry too much over a barren transfer window. Having said all of that, can I change my prediction from a 5th place finish without too much derision?
I think it was the Newcastle defeat for me but totally agree, another 6 or more points on the board and I’d not have cared so much
Oh I think Radz must be sitting looking at the bank balance and wondering if the expenditure is well spent. I can imagine his face when he was asked to stump up £28m for Dan James, I guarantee the words “another winger?” Must have been uttered somewhere. I’m not personally putting a single ounce of blame on Radz. Apparently Bielsa turned down the chance to take Harry Winks on loan, the offer was there but he said no. Seems a strange one to me.. This according to the YEP
100%. I've said all along that playing attractive, attacking football, getting promoted to the Premier League and signing internationals was only done for his own selfish reasons and to hell with the club and fans.
Next 5 fixtures we got 13 pts from last season! Yes I know it's last season and was a fake season, but we were underdogs in all 5 even then.
