Loans of very talented young players from premier league clubs, freebies that suit the data and mindset the club wants.

What exactly would you suggest we do differently

Its not handled by the manager it’s handled by Speakman and his team, with manager sign off.

You’ve casually overlooked the fees paid for Cirkin & Huggins, and the loans fees and agents fees for the transfers then?

There’s no such thing as a free transfer, especially when the club is making no money at all due to the league we are in.

Not sure what you expect us to be doing in League One mate, we ain’t gonna be blasting £5million on a player.

We will see the owners teeth of and when we hit the Championship and start seeing some TV & increased sponsor revenue.

Exactly, you asked who my choice would be, not who I think the club's choice will be, Dyche is it. I've no idea what the club is planning, what budget they have and how long a contract they're envisaging. You want Terry, despite having no idea if he would entertain L1 after such a stellar career. Plenty of lower league clubs have lost managers, has he ever shown any interest.

And I expected a realistic choice not a fantasy.
Has a lower lesgue club with our stature been available whilst he has?

Second time you have said this, if you can't see we are paying decent fees for the league we are in it confirms to me your username is incorrect and should be pessimist!

I'd have said the fact that we're bringing in the quality that we are while not spaffing huge amounts on transfer fees is proof that we're doing something a bit more progressive than we used to.

Cirkin yes and I agree for this league our budget will be the biggest but half our side might not be here next season then it’s back to building all over again.
There’s nothing novel or clever in that.

Jesus you talk some bollox, data - young, hungry, point to prove, ability to improve, highly rated by peers.

So again, what do you suggest we do

We're bringing in highly rated young players from across the top four divisions in this country. But that's obviously escaped your attention in the same way that the highly publicised backroom set up led by Kristjaan Speakman clearly has too.

I didn't say it was realistic, just who my choice would be.

My choice is an unfashionable manager who'll never be appointed by a top half PL club but who has years of experience lower down. He can't be enjoying Burnley that much and probably isn't highly paid. If not him I'd like someone like him, I'm giving an example of the kind of manager I believe we need. Tough, experienced and happy to live in the area.

Your 'realistic' choice is someone who has no experience of management, would have to leave his mansion in Surrey to come to the far NE coast and 'may be a failure'.

I want someone proven whereas you're happy to take a flier because he'd command respect, which I doubt tbh

I disagree, I think the model of signing players who are young promising players but never going to get a chance at their clubs and players who were promising moved for big fees but have stagnated a bit is very clever and novel. I would say it is the most thought out transfer business we have ever done and is probably the most novel approach in the league we are in.

Add to the fact that we have finally started using a data driven approach in league 1, something the big clubs have been using for year. I can't believe it took us so long and the fees in setting that kind of thing up along with hiring Speakmam would have probably bought 3 or 4 league 1 level established/top players but we are clearly trying to sign players with the potential to step up to the next league.

We have a plan. Can you remember the last time (if ever) we didnt just see who was available and would sign?

It isn’t working though is it hence another manager has bit dust.
Playoffs look favourite for us which is what we achieved last season without this ‘progressive’ approach.

I get the proven part, certainly an argument for that over the inexperienced Terry but who realistically fits that description?

You don't think the manager had anything to do with it not working?

I would also say the players we have signed under the new regime are often some of the best players on the pitch during good and bad results!

Keane makes sense if he can accept the management structure and transfer process.

We just wasted a lot of money last time around because poor Quinny was soft with regards to transfers.

I'd definitely give him a go. He's done a lot of growing up. You can see from his TV presence he is becoming a wily individual. He used to be a natural arsehole, now he does it on command. He's softened a bit.

Sorry mate, but no to Keane for me, that's just nostalgia for him. He's really done nothing since leaving us, he was heavily backed at Ipswich but sacked after a season and a half with them never looking like challenging for promotion. He's never been close to another management job since then, and that's over 10 years ago now. He was only a coach at Villa for about 5 months before packing in and when people like Harry Arter can laugh at him to his face as happened when he was coaching the ROI, it doesn't show that he commanded respect from them. Even when you look at his last season here before he left, we were on a massive slide in form, had only won 1 game in 8, he'd fallen out with players and brought poison like Diouf and Chimbonda into the squad.

I'll always admire him for what he did here initially and can forgive him how things were going towards the end, but I'd rather we looked forward rather than back and brought someone else in.
