Yeah possibly/ hopefully. I wasn’t expecting Dele to leave permanently but Everton can’t loan him as they already have two Prem loans so works in our favour. Wonder what the fee is? I think anything over £20m is solid enough business, ideally with add ons too.
If it's been agreed this quickly you would imagine that its reasonably substantial, but equally maybe quite a lot of add ins and allowing us to keep negotiating elsewhere.
Agreed, but we were involved in this deal so we can move quickly when we need to, then again maybe Everton offered so much that no negotiations were needed!!
Zero reason to regret it, been poor for years, we won’t feel his loss. If he does brilliantly at Everton then good for him.
According to Matt Law he reckons it’s a free transfer with Everton paying £10m once he’s played 20 goals. That’s pretty low but equally just getting these players out for us to move forward is key. Feel we could’ve got closer to £20m but oh well, not overly fussed.
For a player who has done nothing dance December 2020 (and was poor by his previous standards for a good 6 -12 months previously) £20m would be remarkable. His performances saw a huge drop off under Pochettino and he only put in decent performances for JMs first few games. He did nothing under Mason, Nuno and put in a decent performance against Liverpool under Conte, yet Conte hasn't continued to play him. He was an England regular yet Southgate now won't touch him with a barge pole. £20m seems an insane amount for a bloke who wants to model and be a gamer rather than a footballer.
We also paid so little for him that even 10m would be doubling the transfer fee. Obviously that doesn’t account for wages and seems nothing compared to what he was worth at his peak but hey. I hope the club have something late up their sleeves, especially if it was a RWB.
It’s a sign of how bad the player’s become. No one seemingly wanted him and this was the only way to get him out.
How the mighty have fallen. Shows how desperate the club were to get rid of him too. Free transfer with £20million if he plays 20 games explains why the deal happened so quick. For his sake I hope he gets his career back on track. At one point he had the world at his feet.
It is but on the plus side, it shows Spurs have finally realised that you need to get rid of players even if the deal isn’t favourable.
...and yet the desperate Everton and Newcastle seem to have been the only takers. Levy wouldn't sell him or Ndombele in 2019, when Mourinho told him to do so. We've wasted a further two and a half seasons, with no improvement, where the price has fallen through the floor for the pair of them. Let's just hope that we're not getting Ndombele and Lo Celso back in the summer...
