Of course young lads with too much money and hero worship are susceptible to bad behaviour - as are young lads without those privileges. Cheating on your long-term girlfriend is a ****'s trick, but beating them up is an entirely different level of unacceptable behaviour. Obviously it's criminal as well as immoral. Abusing someone weaker than yourself is a heartless and cruel act, and displays a serious sociopathic disorder, imo.
Also look at foden and the players and manager he has around him. Some good role models and strong characters. Not really same as United is it, can’t see Ole sitting him down and telling him he needs to get his head down etc. same for some of the players, their captain was arrested in Cyprus couple years ago, not exactly the shining light.
I can see Ole doing that, not sure how much effect it would have though. Fergie would have had an effect. All the Man U managers since have been under pressure and, as such, slightly undermined. When you have the status that Pep, Fergie or Klopp have built at their clubs their words carry more weight. Even van Gaal and Jose couldn't do that at Man U. Don't want to make this too much of a Man U issue though.
Of course the difference is obvious. I was pointing out Greenwood's known character and his indiscipline which is well documented. 'Innocuous' indiscipline will likely lead to more serious offences. I don't accept that young players being undisciplined is par for the course. It's fairly rare that such things happen.
Hmmm, I think it's dangerous to say that small indiscipline will likely lead to large indiscipline. I would say it's more a case of how they react to it. No-ones perfect and we all make mistakes. And I think more indiscipline goes on (also among older players) than you perhaps think.
Absolutely. And as you say, wasn’t in anyway trying to say was United faults. People around, good role models help young kids though, clearly if this is all true then he doesn’t have that around in his family or work life.
Past behaviour is the best indication of future behaviour. Fact. In fact, changing our behaviour is one of the hardest things to do…..it’s almost hard wired into us from an early age. I have no doubt that many saw this coming.
says it all really. Look there might be allegations and a massive ego at play but there is also the dedication and drive. Ronaldo is as extreme in one way as Keane for example was. the problem is its self aggrandisement as well. LFc seem to be relatively luck with players in terms of senior pros doing their roles as senior men in dressing room and there are some like salah who's dedication to the job is also an example. IMO its all to rare to find people with strong enough characters and beliefs that they will play that senior role nowadays. you have to be willing to land on some **** front on high behind the backs of the coaches (more more likely while the coach deliberately turns his back) and lay it out for the little so and so. All players are different but the discipline and fair play is almost militaristic in one way. In another it is very much a boys club. Theres just too many examples coming out of man utd over time now. pogba, morrison, martial, greenwood over time, i'm sure a lot of man utd fans could point out a lot of incidents and stories about players missing training or being late or out partying etc. When you hear of cliques in dressing rooms its gone way past the point of being fixable. IMO LFc have had this in the past plenty where certain managers have tried and failed to enforce change. I mean best thing that ever happened LFC was carragher going. The place was like a leaky sieve the amount of stuff he was briefing hacks on. IMO rodgers never got to grips with that element but it took klopp zero time to identify and put right. While charisma, ego, signings, heavy metal football are all talked the job klopp did first was to nail the discipline and the second was to get the fans off their rear ends and support the team properly. I'm pretty sure conte, tuchel and to a lesser extent guardiola are just as strict on players and take zero nonsense. This is why the lampards and gerrards and rodgers' of this world are pushovers. (same reason leicester did nothing til it suited vardy to try a bit)
prob true. All kids are psychotics. they all have to be taught the words doesn't shine out there arses. You are most likely right that there's an u10s or youth coach or two at utd who knew full well the kid they had in front of them was a total arse but he was too damned tlaented to let go, theres probabaly quite a few teachers at school who had him pegged as well but he's just passing through attitude lets these guys lside by.
Mito - LFc seem to be relatively luck with players in terms of senior pros doing their roles as senior men in dressing room and there are some like salah who's dedication to the job is also an example. I don’t think luck has anything to do with it. I think it’s very good scouting and recruitment that involved years of research into not only the ability on the pitch but their character off it.
well there is that right enough. though Henderson and milner dont fall into that category as they predate a lot of that. In generla the characters are willing to work hard and get along so in general from what we know its a good bunch but i'm sure the senior pros have a lot to do with that and what every manager wants to see. Arm round a shoulder here. kick in the arse there and its like grease for the gears of the machine.
I think getting busted and facing the consequences often changes how someone behaves, especially when the consequence is eating some fist!
Keep seeing A,B or C have unfollowed Greenwood on X, Y or Z like their disowning their mate. Are the ****, they're only doing it to protect their own livelihood and pockets!
I don't think it's about livelihoods and pockets, more about being seen to do the right thing. Everything is about optics these days.
