Maybe part of them is asking if they benefit more from him paying them off than going to prison. But even so that statement was wierd. You never know what goes on behind closed doors. Given the amount it happens in "normal life" and people either don't realise, don't want to realise or just don't say anything, it's almost certainly the case for footballers as well. And clubs would obviously have a vested interest in keeping things quiet if they do find out about anything.
That statement by her dad was creepy as fck. Didn't seem to give a fck about his daughter. And gave the impression like he knew what was happening and thought it was like a couple going through a rough patch.
Yeah when we're going through a bad patch I assault and rape (allegedly, I should probably add) my wife. That's how relationships go. I'm sure with a bit of time she'll come to her senses, forgive Mason and they can be a happy couple again, putting all this silliness behind them. I'm not someone who condones violence but wanting to punch Greenwood's lights out would have seemed the more natural reaction than that statement.
It makes me wonder what he is like or at the very least what he considers part and parcel of being in a relationship. But yeh I agree, he's thinking of the money and probably still thinks it's a sound life for his daughter
Wasn't It Greenwood and Foden who got caught with two Icelandic models while on England duty? Something amiss with both I'd say.
I'm not so sure, it could just be stupid young guys having a good time. The fact Foden was brought back into the England squad but Greenwood never was, suggests someone in the England camp had heard one was a wrongun. That could've been after the initial incident.
I realise you're not making excuses for them and just putting forward an explanation but young lads have always gone away with England yet that was the first occurrence of such a thing. Here's me being judgemental now - one is a teenage father of two and the other doesn't know how to respect women which leads me to think that there's been something lacking in their upbringing. Something that 'lads out for a good time' doesn't quite cover.
Apparently the media have known for some time what Greenwood is like, as have Utd, but the media had to wait for evidence not just hearsay. Greenwood was a child model at 4 and taken into the Utd Academy at 6. He has obviously never grown up in the real world and has probably had people telling him how wonderful he is all his life and feels he can do whatever he wants. Hopefully his football career, at least in this country, is over. A lot of the Utd players are already distancing themselves from him by cutting him from their social media, which suggests they probably were not too surprised when the story broke.
There’s a line crossed when you do it on England or club duty though, isn’t there? I’ve heard the rumours of Greenwood, Lingard and Rashford clubbing directly after games - girls abound. I think that these young lads (and others - I’m sure it’ll happen to us at some point again) need direction and someone watching over them. Fergie did it. Jurgen takes no Sh*t……who have these boys had to steer them? Maguire is no leader and sets no example and OGS has pampered them.
Well lallana got done for driving mile to some strip club and he mysteriously vanished shortly there after. The problem is all of this behaviour is indulged on the alter of winning football games.
Driving miles. He apparently got spotted after some game well away from where the away game was partying.
Indeed. Sahko was another who’s ego was huge. Klopp takes out anything toxic quickly. We are not immune to this, no club is but the club can influence the players by showing how they deal with it and ensuring that they acquire wisely. Which we have under klopp.
He missed a S..."driving miles" https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/england-duo-adam-lallana-jordan-9295603 Hendo too btw
Yeah, you really can't police this at a club but you can stamp on behaviour. This is why when people have a pop at our geriatrics I laugh as I am absolutely sure that certain boys in our squad could easily go this way bar the likes of milner and henderson forcefully reminding them where the line is on the staffs behalf. Turning up on time, putting work rate in every day etc etc. Can't beat it. Trent got done for messaging some pregnant woman as well. I have not heard much out of trent since.
Ah sorry, I thought the word 'mile' was in place of a player's name. I don't remember the story at all.* He seems an unlikely rebel. I remember Flanagan being all but escorted off the premises after his abuse of his girlfriend. It's all totally unacceptable. Can't help thinking that they should have been given anger management help or something before any of these events happened. I'm not outraged by players going to strip clubs, married players maybe shouldn't be. I'm probably not the best person to know what's considered acceptable in this day and age being rather prudish myself. Edit. * just seen it was reported in the rag which is why I was unaware.
whereas Maguire was given the nod to continue with the captaincy after being locked up. Only recently has this changed but look who they’ve given it too
Yes but to be fair there's a difference between meeting models and having fun in breach of Covid rules and what Greenwood's now been accused of. Young players being ill Disciplined is probably par for the course; it comes down to how they learn from it. Foden seems to have kept his head down since; one can only hope he's learnt his lesson.
