Haven't seen Hume or Huggins play so can't really say but given the rest of our recruitment has been sound (Alves apart) I trust the club in that respect
I may be reading something into your post that isn't there but if KLD is overruling the recruitment team on footballing decisions then I'd find that a very worrying development no matter whether I considered the outcome favourable or not.
Lets hope it is a more appealing candidate than Parkinson, he had his share of promotions. This decision is crucial for Speakman and KLD, they have got it wrong once, they cant afford to get it wrong a second time.
What an uninspiring list. I hope the top team have more about them than one of those. Lets hope they do...
To work within the structure they've established or are we just ripping it all up? Would be very very disappointed if it was the latter. I'd far rather we were playing smart, properly using data analytics to identify the best candidate and best fit (regardless of whether they had a promotion previously, that's Methven and Donald levels of decision making basis).
Manning and Bonner are interesting names. Not necessarily right for us, but names that might fit the profile are, at least, beginning to appear on the list.
Manning would be my number one choice (though my scope of awareness is obviously limited compared to the club's). Then Rob Edwards. My only reservation with Bonner, as excellent as he is is that his footballing philosophy (or at least what he's implementing at Cambridge) is a bit more removed from what has been instilled here. The other two are much more closely aligned.
No,I think he means the provision of the cash for the deal. KLD is not overruling anyone.....just making something happen that was maybe a little outside the budget?
Definitely think you're right there. Manning and Edwards would be more what we're looking at I would have thought. Bonner's not really for us but he seems more likely than some of the others on that list.
Good point. It is a bit of a melting pot to step into. My worry is anyone who fails to get promotion this season is on a hiding to nothing. They may look at us right now as a risk for them. It will be interesting to see how young up and coming managers see us after sacking Johnson. Insiders to Sunderland may see it, oustiders are probably thinking we are kneejerkers.
That's very true. People like Edwards and Bonner might be loathed to leave clubs where they're being allowed to build something to come to us now.
