Yeah I get that we probably don't need him as we are going well as it is, but Alli is a great player who for whatever reason has lost his way, who better than Saints to revive his career and when we win the world cup with Alli central to that, we can all feel proud that lil ol' Southampton helped this happen(with JWP, KWP and Tino of course!). Worse case is we spend a bit on wages and a loan fee, best case is he excels, and signs on a perm even if it's only for a few seasons ala Ings. Would certainly be a statement signing and great that we are finally competing for these players. If Ralph wants him, who are we to argue, surely by now we all agree that Ralph is the best manager we have had in a very long time and if he gives it the seal of approval then we are right behind him!
Is this totally on the reliable side as nowhere else seems to be pushing this one (Dele Alli). On another note for those of us lacking concentration, what became of Tino #2 and the alleged Broja bid?
He's the 8th Dane in their squad. Weirdly, not because of a Midgetland - Brentford pipeline...only one of the eight (Lossl, who hasn't played a game) came via that route.
May as well be injured whilst they pay his wages rather than us - I like him but don't think he is good enough and is always out
Djenepo reminds me of a Boufal lite. Obviously got talent but just can’t put it together often enough to ever really be relied upon. Should do well in an “easier” league, but looking increasingly likely he won’t make it here. Is still young so could change but has had lots of opportunities now so if he does become more consistent it won’t be for us
I still think Djenepo could come good. I wouldn't be against a loan move somewhere but I don't think we should sell him at this moment in time.
So Newcastle will have pretty much a new team for when they finally play us. Gamed the system beautifully Their fans are going to be unbearable if they win after Ralph’s (reasonable) comments about how their cancellation of our match was utter BS. So aside from all the obvious reasons I really hope we beat them. It’s stuff like this that puts me off the game. I know it has been like it for years but this really highlights it more in my opinion. I don’t think even Chelsea and Man City signed effectively close to a whole team in one window.
With that said - the only obvious improvements seem to be Trippier and the new CM. I’m sure this 30m French teenager could be great but that is a lot of expectation on him And both the guys from the French league will need to adapt and may not manage it. If they get Henderson in goal though then that is a big upgrade. I would be baffled if Man United sanction that. Surely they would want the same big relegation clause as they apparently did with lingard I’m pretty sure Burn primarily plays in a back 3. If they don’t get that goalkeeper upgrade behind them then a back four containing Burn, Targett and one of their existing CBs doesn’t seem like it is enough unless Bruno turns out to screen the defence like Kante …
Having watched them play at Leeds last week, they desperately need a left back. His left foot delivery could be good for Chris Wood, so hopefully he won’t sign.
I sincerely hope we throw their blood money geordacticos in the bin where they belong. I have no doubt they will be successful in the long run, but they need relegation to learn a lesson in humility before hand.
Tino #2 is going to Huddersfield on loan for the rest of the season. Saints supposedly keen to get him, and Broja, on a perm in the summer.
After being frustrated in their attempts to sign Eddie Nketiah, Newcastle are going for Hugo Ekitike. It's almost as if they've only got a few letters left to do the shirts with so they're looking for someone whose name fits
They seem like very different players and very different price tags Signing that guy for only 30m only after not being able to get an Arsenal youngster on the cheap seems odd. I’d assume they actually aren’t connected at all
