I haven’t seen that, but do know a few Mackem fans and their devotion is absurd. I have very good friends in the US who are big sports fans. They get it, especially at this time of year when their NFL teams usually have no more interest in the season (Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears), love the idea of jeopardy in every game. I really like ice hockey, but there are an insane amount of games involved for a few teams to slug it out at the end of the season. Where they do have a good thing is the draft system and salary caps, which mean, over a decent period, there is a near even chance between teams.
A good friend of mine lives in Wrexham, and goes to some games - according to him the Hollywood pair is a farce, they've not put a dime in and are just reaping in off the additional sponsorship and media attention that their names have bought along.
Well he's lived in Wrexham for the last 25 years, his son has played in their youth team (was also on the books at Man City and Everton in their youth academy), and he goes often enough to have an informed opinion - good enough for you?
Oh, so you're a better QPR fan than me because you go to more games than me - I know my place now, I will defer to your wisdom in future. FYI, as a serving police officer, I'm sure he doesn't get the luxury of getting every Saturday off, unlike "proper fans"
Don't be so touchy, Steels. What I said didn't come across well. What I meant was, he seems like someone to who just goes to a few games without being a real supporter. Is that not right?
Memo to self: Long-distance supporters are really touchy. Never mention 'proper fans', even if if you mean something totally different to what they infer.
I had to give up my ST when I got this job……gutted but one of those things. If I was a real fan I’d probably have stayed where I was. Real fans do that
You should hang your head in shame young man. I mean, imagine having a job that meant you could only go to some games - disgraceful, and certainly not what a proper fan would do
