According to the Daily Star: "BARCELONA will attempt to lure Theo Walcott away from the Ermirates in January. The winger, who is out of contract at the end of next season, has given no definite indication that he is ready to commit to the Gunners. The news has alerted Barca boss Pep Guardiola - who is preparing a big-money bid for the youngster. Walcott is confident he has the skill, pace and firepower to emulate Barcelona star Lionel Messi, playing as a striker rather than as a winger. The magical Messi, who also started life playing wide on the wing, scored a staggering 55 goals in all competitions for Barcelona last season and has continued in a similar vein this term. Now Walcott is hoping to get the chance to show that he can make an equally dramatic transition and show what he can do as a leading striker. Walcott delivered his plea for a career-changing positional change in a heart-to-heart with Arsene Wenger over the summer. That came as the Gunners under-fire boss voiced genuine fears that his former Southampton whiz kid could join the exodus of big names out of the Emirates. But Walcott believes the switch could transform him into the sort of player that has had Messi mesmerising central defenders all over the world. And with teenage new boy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain already emerging as a force to be reckoned with on the wing, Walcott has urged Wenger to give him a go with a new role that has considerably enhanced his England prospects. And this season, Walcott has already caught the eye as a hitman. And he has already scored three goals this season. He said: âI believe I can give so much more to the team playing up front, with the runs I can make off the ball. And I just love hitting the back of the net as well,â âAt times I feel a bit, if not wasted, then in and out of games on the right. I just want it more and more, having scored a few last season. Iâm not a winger and I think plenty of people know that. âIâve done OK out there, but Iâd love to play down the middle,â Walcott added." === I can really see him leaving, if not to Barca, then somewhere else, if he isn't given a chance up front. Theo & RvP up front together could be great, but it's how it fits with the rest of the team. It might require a formation change, which I can't see happening. More interchange between the front 3 has happened this season, and I have noticed Theo coming inside a lot more when the ball is out wide left. What do you guys think? Can you see him getting his chance up front? What about Barca!?
I really hope we don't lose Walcott - he adds something different to the team and has shown he is capable of game changing moments. If RVP gets injured maybe Walcott is the man to step into the middle? And maybe we can try 4-4-2 a little more often and play RVP and Walcott together? I'd hate to see Walcott go to Barca - grrrrr
(btw i think that article is most probably total nonsense - but the point is still valdi that Theo has concerns and we should keep that in mind - as desptie all the stick he gets he is a great player).
We have lost players much much better than Theo, so no big deal. I doubt Barca would want him, with the array of talent they have..... and if they do, he will not get game time!
What a stupid story i cant believe some of you would waste your morning conisdering it to be anythng more than absolute dog ****e
oxocube is not better than theo already - we have seen a small amount of oxo and he looks very good but that isn't enough to decide he is beter than theo who has played some fantastic games for us - got a good goal/assist return last season and was named by Messi and Pep as our biggest threat against Barca in previous seasons. Have we forgotten Walcott comming on against Barca and changing the game from a 2-0 loss to a 2-2 draw basicaly on his own? He is also not playign nearly as poorly as some people make out he is this season. Why is it fasionable to bash theo... is it because denilson isn't around anymore?
Nope because Eboue, B52 and Diaby are not around anymore....... We have sunk to new lows like spuds..... thinking we are better than we actually are..... I was speaking to one of such deluded fool last week, who reckons they are going top win the league!
total bull 2 days ago this was doing the rounds http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...s-theo-walcott-looking-to-open-talks-over-new
I remember ready Messi describing Walcott and one of the most dangerous and difficult players to play against, may struggle to get into the team though
We should get together and create ourselves a rumour. Something vaguely believable, and see how far we can get it. Like the guys who created a player and got the rumour into the national press. Also, Theo looks years ahead of Chamberlain after the latter's poor performance tonight.
Oxlade- Chamberlain, if you please. His great grandfather Neville Chamberlain was the PM of our country in 1939 and came back from his meeting with Hitler in Munich waving a piece of paper that said "piece in our time" (the spelling was corrected before he left the airport). Shortly afterwards Hitler invaded Poland and WW2 broke out. Chamberlain was humiliated and depressed and left office. That Christmas, his wife tried to cheer him up and said: "Come on Nev, give us a Christmas request!" "OK, Slade", the exPM muttered listlessly, and from that moment on was known as Okslade-Chamberlain. This is a true story.
