..........And IF ...we had signed Defoe, and he had made his debut yeasterday, and he scored a wonderful hatrick... We would still have been stuffed 6-3...
This makes a lot of sense. On one side we’ve got people saying we have the strongest squad in the league and others that we are weak as piss in a physical battle. I can’t fit the two together unless the team just aren’t always motivated in those battles. No matter how professional you are if you’re not happy you just don’t fight the same.
We have concede 18 goals in 4 league games, games where we have been destroyed. Rother ham have conceded 18 ALL season. Tells its own story.
Think it is safe to say he is going nowhere until at least the end of the season so I'm resigned to yet another year in this crap league.
I’m not setting one foot in that ground while we are in this division, I had a season ticket for 12 years and sacked it off after 1 season in this league, everything about it is ****, the worst part is, we’ve got even ****ter being in it not better to get out
My only reservation is who we bring in for the last 16/17 games. I am still baffled as to how yesterday happened. If the players aren’t playing for him when things go wrong, not giving the extra 10%, then best get rid now.
I’d seriously bring in Warnock for 16 games or so. Been there, done that. Johnson has to go though, has too.
In that case it gives Speakman plenty of time to find our new manager, let him put his data to work to find Johnson's replacement, no panic appointments, no old pals, no experimental coaches. He needs to find the best man for the job. No excuses.
Yesterday happened because lj got his formation and tactics wrong and then was either too thick or stubborn to change it at half time and guess what we conceded another, bloke is a knob, who should have gone when he blew it last season, results like this, sheff wed etc etc etc etc etc are not acceptable, you can take a one off heavy defeat but this season we have had multiple, it’s time to go for me he’s ****
I am a season card holder who doesn’t go to away games so I have been spared the worst performances this season. I am not one for changing managers at the drop of a hat but for what its worth my opinion is that Speakman needs to be ruthless. When Johnson was appointed he said that, rather than play safe, he is happy to win games or lose games trying to win them, we were also warned about his history of streaky results. We are the league’s leading scorers with 53 goals for, but our goals against (39) is shameful for a club with our aspirations, you have to go down to Cambridge in 10th before you find a worse goals against, which seems to reflect his managerial acumen. We need to get out of this division and despite yesterdays result, still have a chance of automatic promotion, but I don’t think Johnson is the manager to get us over the line. His substitutions are questionable at best and his game management is very poor, he regularly gets outfoxed by opposition managers. Yesterday he changed to a flat back four against a team playing three at the back, leaving Stewart up against their two centre backs with little or no support and our two centre backs up against two forwards down the middle with wingbacks getting at us down the flanks. Against Lincoln at home, they sat deep inviting us on and we couldn’t break through their two lines of five and four then they murdered us on the break. In a way hope I am wrong, but I believe it is time to change the manager before it’s too late. We can’t settle for the normal journeyman as his replacement and need someone who knows the league, can organise defenders but maintain our attacking threat and toughen up our soft underbelly.
How many people were happy when they saw yesterdays team, the majority I would say. even comments about how strong the bench was. that team yesterday should have been comfortably good enough to get at least 1 point from the game.blame the manager if you will, but also blame the players who put on a woeful display.
