He is done here. It honestly has to be good for players to like LJ. When it's not, it's really bad. It's why it's streaky here.
Agree with the sentiment but, Christ, please not Stendel . He took Hearts to bottom of the Scottish Prem and relegated, and then joined Ligue 2 Nancy, who finished 8th the previous season, and took the to the bottom of the league too, not a single win from the first 10 games and sacked again.
I appreciate it takes a lot out of the players, but the pressing /harrasing from the front really works well for us. There wasn't any of it today which baffles me
Not in the third division - league one , those were in the first division -premier league , you also missed Watford in the Luther blissett days 8-0 oh what memories or nightmares!
Crowds going to be interesting next Saturday, hopefully the concerns of today's result don't manifest themself in the majority and the team start well. Edit that is not a dig at the fans but I have little. Confidence in LJ setting us up correctly
Doncaster are absolutely ****e, we’ll win next week. Just papering over the cracks though, not a chance Johnson gets this squad promoted.
while i agree with those saying the players have to look at themselves and that this was not all down to LJ, the simple fact is that as fans, we knew 4 at the back has just not worked for this squad but LJ chose that system...by 20 minutes we could all see that bolton were not just taking control they were almost walking through us, every time they moved forward i was expecting an attempt on goal at the very least yet the one person who could have changed it or at least tried something different did feck all until we were into the second half and 3-0 down and even then he put a badly performing gooch into his worst position. that is the part i am having trouble with, had he realised his mistake and tried to alter things (i have seen managers make subs within 15 minutes when the situation required it and not just for injuries) he sat back on his initial idea hoping it would work, they were scared of us for the first 10 minutes but once they realised we had nowt to offer they took complete control.
The management team are equally responsible, HAVE they got the blend right between youth and experience, don't think so.
I agree in principle, but how do you reconcile that with the change in formation and the result, mate. I don't mind LJ, quite like him based on what I have to go on in terms of his interactions, he's a bit marmite, but I like marmite. But I just can't get past today, it was so bad, and he didn't make any adjustments when it was glaringly obvious he'd made a huge mistake with the setup. It's football, if he wins the next 4 games (doubtful!) no one will care. Also, we'll likely sign someone who perks us up whether it's defoe or someone else next couple of days, so he'll get another game minimum. I tell myself all the time that I've grown up and football is just a small part of my life, but I'm kidding myself. Absolutely gutted tonight. Really am.
It's baffling to be fair. The Wycombe game was a hell of a challenge and we met them head on for the 90. Later on we play mid table Bolton who absolutely destroy us. Bartth and Doyle were both excellent against Portsmouth. There's no consistency or sense to any of it. From one game to the next it's Jekyll and Hyde. I don't know if we need to hire a new defensive coach or if Johnson is the issue but there definitely is a problem.
Love the optimism but I personally don’t see anything changing or any knee jerking from the owner that would result in him spending any more than he was already planning. This is our lot in my opinion, the chance of promotion will again be a distant memory come may. The next bombshell to drop is that’s is all we are getting this window with no Defoe it’s taking too long to tie up which means we are a mile off where we need to be to get him in.
