All I can say is I am glad i didn’t travel to Bolton and pay to watch that match. That result is a disgrace.
Was out today at non-league football. Bit of an old players day out. Was keeping tabs on the score only. As most know I am a supporter of Johnson. That said few managers survive results like that. Now the club must decide. I have no idea what they will do to be honest, but if they pull the trigger I wont be surprised. They will need to sharpen their own act up though on a replacement. As an aside we had a pint after the game and a couple asked what is going on at Sunderland. A couple of the lads played league football. Both said as players you dont accept these defeats when on the pitch. We all said when you are on the end of it you have to fight and have some individual pride. Dont know if the players had that today but not many teams I was ever part of would have gone down 6. Managers and coaches can make mistakes and get it wrong. Players can think the coach is an idiot and clueless. But when you are on the pitch you play with pride, passion and guts. Whilst the buck stops with the manager it is only right to question players as well. We all talk about how good the squad is, but when you lose heavily time and again, the mentality of everyone involved needs questioning.
This manager hasn’t got the foggiest idea These like you say these heavy results should not continue to happen to a side looking for promotion It’s alright people saying you can’t win every game well obviously you cant However we should not be getting hammered in so many games
Anyone know why he’s so reluctant to play the new starters? Also what is the ****ing point in playing Gooch. He needs dropping completely.
Don’t go raising our hopes! On second thoughts, carry on, fill yer boots. We could do with cheering up.
Right lads, I think I’ve found a positive from today. Had we lost by 1 goal we would have moaned a bit but nothing would have happened and we would be carrying on with more of the same next week. With a heavy 6-0 defeat and the way we played then surely something must come out of this. An earlier post mentioned our 7 defeats were all with 4 at the back and when we don’t play 4 at the back we haven’t lost a game. Maybe that will change. Maybe there will be personnel changes including LJ. Maybe KLD will spend a big sum on some players. Nothing would be happening with a 1 goal defeat but a 6 goal defeat should see some movement somewhere. That’s the best I can do.
Sorry, there is only one decision that needs to be made by the management team after today .... sack the manager. There is no excuse for this result on top of the previous debacles. The situation was best summed up by a Celtic supporter I spoke to about the thrashing ... he said that those scores were usually related to school football.
God, what a bad situation though. I was one of those who thought his time was up around the Shrewsbury game, but then he pulled it round and I felt that he'd earned the right until the end of the season. I didn't expect this nonsense to keep happening though. Its like has no interest in the defensive side of the game and that reflects in the players. He's clearly not up to it, and won't be next year even if we go up, whether we make the change now or at the end of the season. Our worst ever defeat in division three and the fact that at this point its clearly a coin flip whether we go up in the playoffs or not makes me think we have nothing to lose in changing now. The only reason not to is that the new guy might take five games to hit the right formula, and we need to decide which is the biggest risk.
Been saying that about Gooch for a long while, hes a trier but always seems to be fighting personal demons, LJ rectifies this perpetual weakness by taking someone else off and moving Gooch to a new position, this is his go-to and sure enough he did it again to-day, taking Cirkin off moving Gooch into defence and bringing Pritch on, when we were being out muscled at the back ? I honestly don't know why anyone defends the charlatan.
I've been on the side of defending him because of the hope that he would eventually learn from his glaring and obvious mistakes. Well today was where the camels back has been well and truly broken. He is totally incapable of doing so.
Yes it won’t happen mate I know but got to keep dreaming right? KLD has the money supposedly where we could make it happen? Interesting to see his response to today? If we get one?
That Bolton right back looks a player mind. Surely now it’s time to play Hume? I never want to see Winchester at right back again.
Our league position hasn't been the problem. I always hoped/expected that we would push for top 2 and at worst we would just miss out. Beaten to promotion by two more deserving teams. I would be able to cope with that type of failure. What I don't expect is days like today cropping up on a regular basis and basically us handing promotion to Rotherham and Wigan.
