Difficult. How many clubs would he be interested in, psg, Bayern, Madrid and Barca? We’d surely be looking upwards of £90m. When you’ve got Haaland available for 6 and mbappe potentially available on a free I’m not sure there will be a big queue willing to spend huge on him tbh.
Certainly not the £200m we'd have expected a season or two ago. Maybe £80m-£100m but really depends on who the buying club is.
supply and demand. juve buying vlahovic real want mbappe, nothing is firm there. barca want everyone, can afford no-one psg? lose mbappe have only neymar and messi. bayern? dont pay that level city? newcastle? chelsea? first who would move on Mo in the summer and pay him the 400k he wants? then the fee starts to become the question. who knowing he is available would have to move? in the end cheslea paid 100mil for lucky and city 100mil for grealish so the fee is 150mil minimum really. just north of what spurs wanted for kane We can't be accepting less than 150mil but we have left this very late so it could ned in a <100mil ball of tears. its really about wether someone with oil money is depserate enough in their aims to grab him now.
I tend to think we'd be lucky to get more than 100mil for him atm. I think we'd be better keeping him and running him into the ground like I do with old cars. Just need to sort that contract out - easier said than done.
This is the thing. You either lose him on a free. Sell him at a very reduced rate this summer then have to replace him. The cheapest is probably just giving him a new contract with what he wants (within reason) as you get a player you know is performing at only a small extra cost. I know long term have implications of other wage demands but we’ve been there done that so won’t go into it. Just think atm, although he’s the best player in the world, he’s at an age where his value isn’t as much so selling him given his age, length of contract would be tricky. Put it this way, if lfc were buying Salah from somewhere else. How much would you pay for him? Think that’ll give an indication of what his value would be.
PSG are the only club I could see going for him. Maybe Real, but unlikely if they're getting Mbappe this summer. We wouldn't sell to City or Chelsea, and I hope he's not desperate to go there.
We wouldn't put a value on him because we wouldn't buy him. We wouldn't buy him because (a) too old, (b) passed his peak, (c) no resale value, (d) too expensive and (e) high wages.
I would have said his value has dropped somewhat, but he is still in his prime years and with many top players now playing into their mid and late 30's, I don't see why Salah would be any different. £100m minimum
Okay, to make it easier for you to understand, I'll switch it from... to... I wouldn't put a value on him because I wouldn't buy him. I wouldn't buy him because (a) too old, (b) passed his peak, (c) no resale value, (d) too expensive and (e) high wages. ... better?
Not really. What your saying is the guy has zero value in that case. So do you think he should or shouldn’t get a new contract? Because by that logic no, he shouldn’t so you’d just let him go on a free and retire?
Sky sports transfer show are gushing over lfc and Diaz. Interesting statement Sold coutinho 142mil. Total value of forwards klopp signed: salah, mane, jota, Diaz. 152mil. Now obviously that's not the sequence of events but it speaks to the general strategy of buying at a certain level where there's value. It's going to be interesting to see what we do with this lad in the squad all of a sudden 6 months early. Get him in and play him in the league cup final instead of minamino anyway.
