this is a case of not needing numbers but having seen the player in person and also tursting that klopp and scouts don't buy bad attitudes that no matter that the stats say he will suit the team and contribute.

the second you see minamino you know nope. not in the prem, never. This lad... you can see he'd cut it. after that really....... stats are just stats he has to go deliver on the pitch.

I think it’s very good recruitment to be able to get players who can play in 2 of the 3 roles up top. It comes down to way our team is set up that allows this I think.

Everyone was saying how would you buy someone to replace the front 3 as they’re so good that no one will come as they won’t play. Well you buy someone like Jota who can provide competition in both wide areas and up top so he’s not really competing against 1 player but gives him 3 times more chances to play.

Sinilar with Diaz. Although plays mainly on the left, seems like could do a job either side so again adds options.

it’s where teams like spurs have struggled in my opinion as it’s hard to find someone to compete with Kane because not many central strikers can do job out wide or in diff role so you’re only ever going to buy someone not as good.

    Squad time 2022/23 YAY

    GK: Alisson, Kelleher Adrian. 2F
    RB: Trent, Bradley.
    LB: Robertson, Tsimikas: 2 F
    RCB: Matip, Gomez. 1F
    LCB: VVD, Konate 2 F
    No 6: Fabinho. Morton. 1F
    LCM: Thaigo, keita, jones. 2F
    RCM: Henderson Elliott.
    RW: Salah, Ox 1F
    ST: Jota, Firmino 2F
    LW: Diaz, Mane 2F

15 foreign players, we would have 6 HG and of those 4 and club trained.

departures: Milner (retires) Phillips, Minamino, origi, williams? karius, davies (remember him)

seems to me theres still room for a player or two to come in. we would have 2 players in every slot even if some are young for the first time in my memory.

Elliott and morton being u21 means we have room to add 2 more senior players in the summer if we so choose and meet the prem and LC squad requirements.

I think realistically as well spurs have probably been trying to snag a bargain here and not gone in with real intent to buy asap. the guy would basically compete direct with son there and nowhere else.

same for traore. he's looking at conte and thinking he doesn't fancy playing RB in a back 5 v big teams

We better go and sack our world class data scientists who have spent years developing the models used to analyse targets. :(

Been part of our recruitment process for a long time, even the midfielders & FBs can play more than one position.

Definitely have to factor in the poorer league. But as the graphic shows, their stats may not be out of this world but you can see the potential to scale is up there. If we wanted to sign players who have Mane / Salah numbers now, we would have to buy Haaland, Mbappe, Messi etc.

He's got 14 goals and 4 assists in 18 league games this season ..

Could be the start of a rapid rise to the top ...

Have to look deeper in that.

20/21 he started 16 games and was sub 14 times.

In terms of minutes played he played total of 18.2 games scored 6 and set up 5. So not horrible numbers.

    19/20

    20 starts 9 sub appearances
    19.7 games.
    6 goals 5 assists.

So average a goal involvement every 2 games

Then this year his levels have dramatically improved. If you look at Jota his numbers weren’t anything spectacular at wolves (I know a worse team in a better league).

We're that Wolves team worse than the current Porto side? I reckon the former would have won <whistle>
