How are you defining upward and downward trends and who’s had the more success though? Because since 2001 under Levy, Liverpool have finished above us around 13 times and we’ve finished above them around 7. We’ve won one League Cup in that period, they’ve won two, they’ve also won an FA Cup, two Champions Leagues and the Prem, plus the extra ones like the Super Cup twice as well as a Community Shield. I’d agree that in around 15 of Levy’s 20 years we’ve shown certain levels of improvement but Liverpool have generally been better than us and experienced more success - even in what you’d consider a down trend for them.
Our bid for Ollie Tanner has been accepted, apparently. I hope the club don't announce this one at the wrong time...
There’s every reason for them to not announce it, seeing as the guy isn’t the most popular amongst Spurs fans .
hope you are all happy now, you're getting your marquis signing and backup to kane. Transfer window done
Loan for Morata ? He's ****, but he'd be an improvement on literally nobody, which is what we have now. It won't happen, though. It's just the Spanish clubs pissing about.
Of course Liverpool have been better than us over 20 years. They have had appreciably more income than us in each of those years. Once the ENIC strategy kicked in we started catching them up and over the last ten years we have actually been above them in the league on average. They have converted their good seasons into trophies better than us and their recent performance in the transfer market has been exceptional. But prior to ENIC they were cemented in the top four and we were mid table. We now consider it a massive failure to come 7th and get to a cup final. That would have been an above average outcome in the years between 1975 and 2005.
While I think there’s something in this around perceptions of Spurs, it’s also just common sense from the other clubs. You don’t strengthen rivals if you can help it While Spurs’s attitude to ‘do it a different way’ is admirable, too often it recently just looks like key people at the club not understanding the laws of the jungle we live in.
ENIC, Lewis and Levy are slowly destroying Tottenham Hotspur Football club. The club is now just a soulless corporate entity, that facilitates a billionaire`s (who has no interest in football) desire to build an entertainment venue in London. Tottenham Hotspur Football Club no longer has a feeling of community and even more grim it has no real ambition in the sport it was built on. Jesus Christ this football club needs new owners. ENIC, Lewis and Levy OUT!
Have you made up your mind yet Billy, on which of the following you want the new owners to be : 1. Oil money oligarch from the gangster days post USSR collapse 2. Oil money autocratic regimes whose national cultural/religious foundations leave a far bit to be desired regarding "human rights"
The last 10 seasons yes, we’ve probably finished above them in roughly a 6-4 out come albeit that will almost certainly be 6-5 by the end of this season but I disagree with the notion they’re in a downtrend or have been in one over the whole course of ENIC’s tenure. It could be fair to say the uptrend you speak of for us was arguably just a purple patch, just as Liverpool’s supposed downtrend was a blip. Order has now essentially been restored the last few years as Liverpool seem light years ahead of us, where as barring Conte, this club seems to be doing all it can to take us further downwards.
https://www.sportbible.com/football...e-given-their-club-has-been-revealed-20200914 So despite being worth around £5billion, our majority owner has put zilch into the football club, in fact £40m has been taken out according to this report. Parasites that need to be removed.
Dan KP has said something along similar lines too: These are the two most respected Spurs-related journalists both giving disheartening statements.
While others are more knowledgable on this sort of thing than me, the article (c.18 months old) speculates that the money taken out of the club was to repay loans related to the stadium development. So they financed with debt and have taken money out to repay the debt. Different to Man United as their figures are related to what was basically an LBO to acquire the club. Like I said others know more about this sort of thing than me so happy to be corrected, but that’s my understanding.
To be forewarned, is to be forearmed. To be forwaked, is to be ... a Spurs supporter. < Forewake est fatigue >
Spurs : ENIC bought out Sugar, and more of less everything since has been financed by THFC operating as a "business of its own account" , Man Utd : private equity loan on "leverage" of club worth.
