He's very very good when focused, his issue is he loses focus on his football often. Its why when hes on loan, happy and focusing on footy he reminds everyone how good he is. I would like him, but tbh only for the loan period and then hes not worth the cash
He played out of his skin at West Ham, but he's never been that good previously and that could have been a flash in the pan, ie Willock scored for fun last season and can't score for **** now. Lingard was hardly a regular scorer for Man U. He's not even an out and out striker.
I like the idea of him. I think if we gave him freedom and had him/Max either side, we’d be a big problem for teams. But he’s not the be all and end all like Man U seem to think. He isn’t the guy who keeps us up. Our biggest problems are (perhaps were by Monday) in the spine - namely centre back and centre midfield. Let’s not forget we will see a new more effective Max if we surround him with better players.
Ah, but goals come from being higher up the pitch, which is dictated by stronger midfielders and better quality on the ball defenders.
Indeed but I still think we need a to striker.. Wood does a job, Wilsons always injured. We need a clinical striker
Is he better than Ryan Fraser? Yes. This window is just about upgrading which, frankly, isn't very difficult. Then it's about how much you upgrade. Hayden to Gumaraes is potentially light years, Ciaran Clark to Dan Burn is baby steps. Fraser to Lingard is somewhere in the middle.
I'd say **** them and we can get him for free in the Summer and pay him a big signing on fee so a win/win.
I won't rant and rave if we don't get one......but I'm tingling with the thought of who MIGHT arrive....
No doubt he is. The deal being presented is the problem. I think we’ve realised they have a very unhappy player. It strengthens your hand. If no one wants to pay them, and they don’t want to strengthen a rival, options are limited. I suspect we are just sitting tight on that one.
Burn makes sense to me. Over the next few years we need players that know what this club means to the people in this area. He's also a solid player
I don’t want to sound negative about anything, but Burns to me is just decent. Looked better at full back too
Yeah I wouldn’t crib him too much, at least he’s a known quantity. I’m just not convinced he’d massively improve us. Sum of all parts though.
I like the idea of any local lad playing for newcastle. In some cases our fans will sniff at his signing but, if he signed for 10ms and had a South American name or something they'd be loving it.
He's better than 21/22 Ciaran Clark, but is that a Bruce thing? Clark has always been reasonable for us. I don't see a gap in ability between Lascelles, Clark, Fede and Dan Burn. They're all much the same. Whereas others could be a significant upgrade. Is the Burn link to do with Ashworth?
