My little un is studying the Vikings at school atm. We've been making paper mache Viking swords and Longboats made out of Whiskers cat food boxes at home. We had a go at making some Viking Skause the other day too. Basically just meat and potato stew, but in the imagination of an 8 year old that was proper Viking chow.
Yeah I know what you mean lol I've been there as a kid. I remember they even put in the smells to recreate the scenes. Defo fascinating stuff and really interesting culture. We used to go to the railway museum in York too, kinda geeky but fun as a kid. My old Granddad (who's was a Yorkshireman) was a massive rail nut. When he moved to London and married my Nan and us kids were young, he'd take us to an overbridge near Hither Green in South London to watch the trains lol. Saturday lunchtime special treat that was, followed by a tube of smarties and watching Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks wrestling on World of Sport in the afternoon
