I’ve not seen it on social media in general, albeit I do have over 9,000 Spurs Twitter accounts on mute so that could partly be why <laugh>.

Considering people were comparing Amrabat to Hojbjerg, when watching ten minutes of Morocco's matches would demonstrate how off-base such an assertion is, seriously, yes it does

Out of curiosity, how many of those are the accounts pretending to be Hotspur Related? I swear there's at least one new one every week...

We’re being linked with Alex Nubel of Bayern (on loan at Monaco), though the source isn’t anything great. Think we were linked with him before he joined Bayern a couple years back though, was seen as a possibly the heir for Neuer for both club and country but hasn’t been able to oust him, unsurprisingly, as Neuer’s still bloody quality.

Lucky for Bayern that they didn't pay Schalke a cent for him

Yeah tons of those mugs, likewise Romano ones.

I also mute anyone who does the Spurs follow for follow bollocks, anyone who writes “dub”, “ratio” in their thfc tweets. Anyone who copies and pastes tweets. Anyone with ITK/ insider/ source in their name. It’s mad how it’s stacked up. Although it’s worked wonders, whenever I run any thfc searches now it’s mainly just news sources that pop up. Would highly recommend it to anyone if they’re willing to put the graft in.

    No, it really doesn't.
Watching someone you have never seen before (or perhaps even heard of) in AFCoN gives you no idea of how that player will/can perform in a league as hard as the PL.
They're all playing with and against a very mixed bag of players ability wise, this means a great player could be making passes that team mates don't read or conversely making runs that nobody spots.

I think the general “meh” surrounding Amrabat is that he can’t get in to Fiorentina’s team this season. Now I’d say Fiorentina has a weaker side than Spurs and so being linked with a player who can’t make their XI doesn’t give the greatest of signals they’d make the desired impact here. Whether you think he plays like Hojbjerg (which from clips I’ve seen I’d say he does), Huddlestone, Stambouli or Luka Modric, it’s more down to the fact that a) will he improve on what we have? and b) is he even what we need?

Likewise Traore. I think PNP has put it perfectly in the past with something along the lines of Traore is the best **** player in the Prem. He’s exciting to watch because he runs ridiculously fast and will get you out of your seat but his end product is painful (and thus puts you back in your seat!). Like Amrabat, he can’t get into the XI of another team that’s weaker than Spurs. We’re essentially looking to buy him to compete/ oust Emerson and chances are he could be the poorer player. Emerson doesn’t have the same speed nor can he cross but he can defend and has a good engine, Traore has immense speed but he also can’t cross, can’t defend and he doesn’t have a particularly great engine, often becoming less impactful as the game goes on.

They’re both relatively uninspiring signings at a time where we feel we need some genuine upgrades on our squad/ XI. It would be Sod’s law though that these two join and become key players, the lack of expectation could work in their favour.

Paredes to Wolfsburg looks like it might be on, which gives PSG space to take Tanguy, and might kickstart some movement for us.

I think in particular with Amrabat, he brings a combination of qualities that we don’t have in midfield. The best comparison IMO is to a player who was key for Conte in the past, that being Brozovic. Obviously Amrabat isn’t as good but he will play that role. He’s also on a loan with an option so if it turns out we just want to use him as a squad player for the rest of the season then we can. I think it’s smart business.

Traore I’m going back and forth on. He brings something different but I just worry about his end product and his defensive ability and discipline if we try and play him at RWB.

I’m finding it hard to see a place in the XI for Amrabat.

If we go 352 then he could take the place of Lucas (plus Winks) but I think Conte prefers 343 at the moment.

So if we keep 343 then it’d be one of Hojbjerg or Skipp that drops out, which feels very doubtful.

If he’s brought in purely for squad purposes, then chances are Winks goes back to getting the same amount of minutes as he did under Nuno and Jose, I’m not necessarily complaining but for a guy who’s been publicly saying how Conte’s giving him chances, it’d then be ironic if he goes back to square one. And it feels like Conte quite trusts Winks at the moment.

As for Traore, I’d genuinely rather persist with Emerson. I think there’s a good player in there and realistically all he needs working on is crossing, if the guy could cross he’d be a seriously decent RWB. If by the summer Emerson hasn’t sorted his crossing or shown signs of it improving… Lamptey.

Yeah…but that’s why I think it’s good he’s on an initial loan because we can do what we want with him. If he comes in and tears it up then he’ll deserve a place and that’s great, but if he’s just a solid squad option then that’s still more than any of the 3 exiles contribute.

Would love, LOVE Lampety but I think that’s one for the summer.

    Amrabat is another Gedson Fernandes

Traore isn’t as good as Lucas or Emerson Royal (depending where you wanna play him)

That’s not just me ****ting on anyone linked with Spurs.

For example, Luis Diaz would excite me, as would Vlahovic or even Kessie to a lesser extent.

I think that’s a little unfair. Gedson was an odd one - possibly a favour to his agent? Never quite worked that one out but I don’t think the manager ever really wanted him - Arambat is a full international and a player Conte actually (reportedly) appreciates. There’s also little risk in us getting him on an initial loan, the players we want rid of are barely contributing anything and it would really take something for him to be less impactful.

Diaz and Kessie would be very exciting signings. I think the former is possible if we put our hands in our pockets for the fee, the latter will probably wait for the summer and I doubt we’ll get him because of the competition on wages for a free transfer.

Sam Johnstone wasn’t part of West Brom’s squad tonight and rumours that he may have had a falling out with his manager.

6 months left on his deal and been linked with us a fair bit. Wonder if there’d be any development between now and Monday? I’d be open to cancelling Gollini’s loan and bringing him in.

After our captain signed an extension, I doubt he would join just to be back-up.
