Yeah that's very true. We would also get annihilated by FFP if we have huge contracted players in the championship.

I don't think you can underestimate the pull of a manager though. Howe will be looking at mid to lower table British players.

He's not **** at spotting decent players. A few people in here are jizzing their pants at the thought of Duvan Zapata. Guess who signed him at Napoli.

Our takeover didn't go through until after the summer, yes Rafa did wait, he had a lot of offers in the summer.

I'm not saying a manager with pull doesn't make a difference. However, I don't think it is a major concern for us at the moment and due to our position would probably be negated by other worries.

His success rate on signings is relatively poor. He spends a hell of a lot of money and has at least as many misses as hits.

How does FFP work though if you are moving between leagues? As they are two different organisations (PL and EFL) they can't take action against you if you are not a member of that organisation the following year. So if we only spend 1 year in the Championship the EFL wouldn't be able to sanction us.

It depends if your looking at signings for the future which could go either way. Signings which were 5th and 6th choice ala. Muto. Or his 1st choice players. Remember when he was here he wanted Tammy Abraham, Denis Praet, Bruno Fernandes etc.

I've heard we're currently looking at 5th choice signings again now. Nat Phillips, Dan Burn.

I think they have power to impose some sanctions through the FA, though I think they are financial ones. The FFP rules in the EFL are much stricter than in the PL, so it would be a worry.

He said he wasn't sure if the takeover would actually go through and had offers on the table.

As part of his deal with Everton, he wasn't allowed to leave to join us if the takeover went through. Amanda tried 3 times to get him to make the jump.

So gossip column is saying everything's gone to ****; Lingard is the confusing one, why would we be unwilling to pay the loan fee?

We are willing to pay a loan fee. Rangnick accepted a deal then the people above him blocked it wanting more

    He had plenty of signings at Liverpool that were very unpopular with their fans and who weren't a success in the long run - many of them costing Liverpool a lot of money;

Josemi, Ryan Babel, Peter Crouch, Andrea Dossena, Jermaine Pennant, Sebastian Leto, Jan Kromkamp, David Ngog, Philip Degen, Charles Itandje, Mauricio Pellegrino, Alberto Aquilani, Antonio Nunez and more. There's a fair few millions tied up in those.

He also sold players who were much better than the above to make way for them, such as Xabi Alonso and John Arne Riise.

His record wasn't just poor under the constraints of Ashley.

Fans (and players) of Valencia had similar complaints.

Yeah it's based on 3 years of losses, in the Championship you're allowed up to 13 million in losses per season if you're a long standing championship side. If you're not it's only 5 million.

Most premier league clubs who go down, sell their more expensive players.

My worry is if we go down, we might not go up straight away.

    Nothing wrong with Crouchy.

Most of the players you mentioned were either traded players, pot luck players or backup.

Ryan Babel had the talent in the world, but had a terrible attitude and poor work ethic.

From your list, Aquilani is the only standout at 20 mil, but he looked good in Italy. He was a case of plays well in one country, doesn't translate to another country.

Because we don't want to be held hostage just because we have money.

For the money he spent, and the pull the club had, they could have done much better than Peter Crouch. He isn't a bad player by any means, but wasn't what Liverpool needed at the time.

The issue of the traded players and pot luck players were that those were the players he signed to replace very good players he got rid of.

@InBiscanWeTrust what was the general consensus among Liverpool fans of Rafa's transfer dealings?
