I don't judge it by the year. It's based solely on watching the film itself.

Or by the Oscars eithers. Plenty of howlers over the years there.

On a sidenote, Grand Budapest is a very good film but overrated imo
I can no longer take you seriously Treble.

Jaws is nearly a 10.

Casablanca is a 10

The Third man is verging on a 10.

Old Boy and A Prophet....in the region of a 10.

If it's any consolation I watched 12 Angry Men again the other day...

And realised the opening 11 minutes is all one single shot, which when you watch each character interact and move around the room and deliver the dialogue with perfect timing just makes the film even more supreme.

Gladiator is never a 10!

What is wrong with you people!

<laugh>

before that it was the 10 commandments starring Charlton Heston and Yul Brenner

I don’t take this stuff lightly Aldo

Gladiator has it all..oozes Alpha chemicals, good acting, great acting and a top storyline. Just the right amount of sexual innuendo not too much that it went game of thrones. It’s got an actor in it that died during filming and the costumes are great…what does it take?

10 outa 10 for me brh

Almost certainly a 10

The only thing I'd give a 10 to in recent years is the first season of True Detective.

Even though I didn't at the time. Think I gave it a 9.

The big sleep is a better film than the Maltese Falcon imho.

Psycho, strangers on a train and Rear window...10s all round.

Godfather 2 possibly

The Maltese Falcon, no I don't think so.

Chinatown, nah. LA confidential is a better film.

I think I place a lot of emphasis on script/dialogue and the actors delivering it. Hence why Whiplash and Maltese Falcon.

Every single character's dialogue in Maltese Falcon is just sublime. Bogart's dialogue, and the way he delivers it throughout is one the sharpest of any film in cinema history.
