I don’t disagree but everyone gets the impression Nigel Pearson is a dour and miserable old fart. But everyone who knows him and played under him reckons he’s a rinsing geezer. Part of the job though really isn’t it talking to the media and fans and for something that’s seemingly so easy and costs nothing there’s a lot of reward for taking just a little time and appearing welcoming and friendly and just being approachable and a lot to lose by not.
Yep Mcann has often felt the warmth of the support too. How many managers do you see really interacting with the support? Fans are fickle results are fickle and fans opinions too. Yes he wasn’t the most outgoing guy and I think he chooses his words carefully because his words are pored over and picked over - this set of players seemed to like and respect the guy so he got a tune out of them .
From a strictly personal point of view and out of respect for the individual involved,I'd have been more comfortable reading that after he'd been 'relieved of his duties'. Anyhow,if it's done now,I wish him well,to beat Bournemouth in his last game is a nice way to go!!
One of the things City fans are most consistently wrong about is Callum Elder. He's been excellent for us and it baffles me that more people don't see it. The same is true of Coyle to a slightly lesser extent.
I try not to say too much about Elder because I'm aware people will think there is a natural bias showing, but he really has been brilliant for us.
I think that you will find that out of any modern manager/coach in the upper levels, Grant McCann has has the least number of media interviews. Covid affected every team and club so that doesn't change the figure really.
Not sure if that was all down to Grant, or perhaps more to do with Ehab's dealing with the media around the club.
The very young lad that Acun was shown taking selfies with before the Blackburn game will never forget it.... as you say TOM takes very little to do an awful lot...
Couldn’t agree more. Tho I’m sure one of our analists will be along to say he had a bad game once or twice Or he’s the worst player in the team.
He doesn’t score enough goals or get enough assists for me and he’s had a few shockers. He’s ok but we need better really.
It’ll be interesting to see how McCann deals with outside influence at his next job. Here, I felt like he seemed he had a lot to learn about juggling relationships, he might not get the same luxury elsewhere.
I know that 1 of the more talented younger lads is happy to see the back of him and his staff, not sure if he's alone.
I am afraid that I have to disagree with the wider view that McCann was influenced in his choices. Maybe one or two times, but not as much as many. I believe that he had no choice in the players that we had, but maybe was asked when we had a player in the squad who was fit and not getting game time.
Both them and Humberside couldn't wait to see grant out, then they wonder why people don't like dealing with them
