Think just shows how bad And old fashioned Hodgson was. Filled the team with bunch of 30 year old cloggers who were winding down their careers at other clubs and was hailed as a genius English manager for keeping them up.

Vieira comes in, buys a couple young attacking players and actually has them as a decent team to watch.

They're quicker too. I keep emphasising that because of our high line. Our high line is a one-size-fits-all solution to every team we play. I remember a quick Leeds team causing us many problems, and City and Chelsea (before Lukaku) have always had us hopping about. Think Palace will be a real handful in the coming years.

    Well it's your own faults.

It was clearly about robertsons assist and my replay was that the ball out wide was the better ball but robbo just hoofed it.

I watched again and the short pass to jota inside was even better option as well.

It was a nothing ball at firmino that just went over his head and turned out great

I personally think its not just a high line. It's a general absence of any depth and any layer in the central areas.

The high line is such that there's a gap a mile wide between the cbs most of the time and henderson and Jones will be off wherever as will trent.

As a result any sort of break means teams are straight in if they can get the ball forward.

The trick to getting at us is to beat that first press and get facing forward in a place to play that ball in.

The way we are playing another 2-7 result isn't an outrageous thought. :emoticon-0114-dull: if the press is off and someone has a forward capable of staying onside they will be in.

Yeah, Villa is another good example - Watkins tore us several new ones that day, and Grealish had that quick, through the lines ball off to a tee. Brighton and Waford a couple of seasons ago spring to mind too.

The issue for me is we should have gone plan b today.

Pull the two cbs in tight together and park henderson and fabinho in front centrally and down that pitch. Jones could push on as a single central player and press and run about.

Palace were walking through our middle.

Go to 4-2-3-1. We never adapt though, even when we had to pull our two best cm's back as cb's because Williams and Phillips weren't fast enough.

The refs in the prem are actually embarrassingly bad.

Indeed, but Lineker is ranting on social media about how Jota wouldn't have got to the ball - the same Lineker who gave it loads with his mate Shearer when Edison wiped out Fraser and no pen was given - because Fraser wasn't getting the ball. :emoticon-0138-think

Didn't Cavani get one recently as well when he was getting the ball? I just thought Carra's argument was ****ing idiot, but that said, the ref saw the goalie wipe out Jota in real time - that shouldn't be overturned, no matter how idiotic.

Shearer is so one-eyed that the only reason he'd buy a pair of glasses is so he'd have a monocle for each face. :emoticon-0112-wonde

Even just switching the midfield pivot.

Right now it's very much fabinho at the base and henderson playing rw while trent wanders about and Jones High on the left.

If you pivot to 2 no 6 and say OK trent get wide and stay wide and Jones and fimino can patrol advances then side would be forced to at least go wide and try those channels.

Attenborough shows on demand, that's about as far as my BBC viewing goes.

BBC bitesize and open university and documentaries are magnificent. We'll badly miss the BBC when it becomes a subsidiary of Fox. Televised Sun.
