please log in to view this image Sunday 23rd January 4.30pm Premier League Stamford Bridge Another week, another game against Chelsea. Great. Dier's back, apparently. Not sure about anyone else. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Tanganga, Sanchez, Davies; Royal, Skipp, Winks, Hojbjerg, Reguilon; Kane, Moura. Subs: Gollini, Doherty, Rodon, Sessegnon, Lo Celso, Alli, Bergwijn, Gil, Scarlett. League form: WDWDWW. Chelsea: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger, Alonso; Jorginho; Ziyech, Kante, Mount, Hudson-Odoi; Lukaku. Subs: Bettinelli, Sarr, Niguez, Hall, Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, Havertz, Pulisic, Werner. League form: DWDDLD. Ref: Paul "Are You Taking The Piss?" Tierney. Less than 10% win rate. VAR: Darren England. TV: Sky Sports. How would you like to line up for this one?
I hate Chelsea. No matter how they are performing, they always step up a gear when playing Spurs. On current form, we should be beating them but we all know what will happen. However, I always have hope and believe they are beatable.
Have pondered this one quite hard (on the "season compass" etc) and have decided ... Spurs should treat this as a last day of season game, where if we do not win by two goals we will be relegated. Spurs cannot out-pass them, out-skill them. I doubt Conte will be able to magic up a performance we usually reserve for Citeh at WHL. < rcl > I say we make it fast and furious in their own half, all game. Run certain players (Moura etc) into the ground for 60 odd mins, and then sub them with equivalents (Bergwijn etc) who can continue the harassment at that pace up til FT. For the loss of 1 pt on the "season compass" , unlikely to concede a lorry-load of goals, and the huge mental lift such a win will give the PL campaign, I say take the risk.
If both teams give 100% they win I'm sad to say. However there are rumours that there are problems within their team so they might not. If that is the case we have a chance, but it's a slim one.
We will 100% lose this game. No point in even thinking otherwise. I hate them so bloody much and they always beat us they just have our number. At least I was there at Stamford bridge when we won 3-1 4 years ago, I’ll have to just enjoy that forever!
I would mildly prefer that we didn't present them with one....they don't usually score many of their own creation
We have gone from having a decent record against them from 2006 to 2019; W9 D10 L13 to having a dismall run since then; W1 (on pens) D1 L8 and we have failed to score in our last 5 games against them. Suspect I'll be looking up the 2008 league Cup final to cheer myself up after full time
Yeah tough to see us getting anything. Chelsea are just “that” team for us at the moment, doesn’t matter how well we play or not, we generally struggle to get a result these days. Think there’ll be two, maybe three changes from Leicester: Doherty for Emerson Dier for Tanganga Possibly Bergwijn for Lucas based on his heroics albeit he may not be fit to start yet. Hugo Sanchez, Dier, Davies Doherty, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Winks, Reguilon Kane, Bergwijn/ Lucas
I really hope we don't revert back to 343 today. It gives us zero midfield control against the better teams. Ally Gold hinted that it remains Conte's preferred formation but until we have Son back and have improved at CM, I much prefer 352 against top half teams.
Yeah it’s not sounding promising. Ally Gold’s also said as such. “Interesting lineup, depending on your definition of interesting”.
If this: Means this: Then we are ****ed. I dread to think about what the bench would look like, for a start.
If those 11 players are starting line up, it won't be 4 4 2 we all know that - best guess would be that Sess will play on the left of the front 3. Its recipe for disaster but the other alternative would see Dier play in midfield which is probably even worse
