It’s far far too early to be saying job done. Hopefully this season is not like two seasons ago and we sell our best players. However, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Honeyman gets injured and we lose one of our CBs, of which Arthur is the only cover and a big unknown quantity. As others have said too many twists and turns to presume anything, especially after what happened two years ago.
A fair question. My opinion fwiw. I think the circumstances were different in as much as the then owners did invest in the team with the PL the ultimate goal. GM never had the same level of backing and his squad is very different man for man than the one PB had. MoH
There’s some very good people at the club and many were as glad to see the back of the Allams as we were.
It's completely different to 2 years ago. Back then we had a mediocre L1 squad, a split dressing but propped up by 2 top players at this level. If we lose a CB we'll switch to a 4 at that and make do for a couple of games. We have Coyle, Elder and Alfie all due back in the next fortnight. We also have some money to spend this window, and a DOF with good European connections and appear to be on the verge of signing the top scorer from a league which is probably marginally better than ours. This squad won't crumble, we took a bit of time to adjust to this level but for the last 11 or so games we've looked really good. We look a lot more like a top half side than relegation material
In defense of that random person's tweet ( ) I think the point of the tweet was more to underline just how long Grant has actually been here, rather than to draw any judgement on his pedigree vs Brown.
I think there are a lot of City fans that didn't have that much of a problem, and are likely to be glad they've gone just so that it ends the interminable comments blaming them for everything, no matter if that was realistic or not.
You couldn't have used worse examples. Lichaj couldn't get another contract in the Championship, so went 5o Turkey Burke is alright but he's worse than all 3 of our starting CBs. Stewart literally had to drop into L1 to get a contract, he did well but now they're back in the Championship he's had a difficult season but had injury too. And we haven't even mentioned where the likes of Irvine, Toral, Kingsley, Pennington, Batty, Tafazolli, Maddison, Scott etc have up. It was average L1 squad without Bowen and Grosicki and it certainly wasn't getting promoted
Where did lichaj play most of his career? You clown Same with Stewart Where are burke and de wijs playing now? It’s not about who is better it’s the fact you blatantly exaggerate every post to make a point.
There's a real irony about you calling anyone a clown If Lichaj and Stewart were that good, why couldn't they get a championship contract?
It's the Bernard question really. I've been critical of him but I do prefer Bernard. I think had Alfie not struggled with injuries then he takes that spot anyway So what, Lichaj was a player on the decline. He was a solid performer but if he's the basis of your argument then it's piss poor. Re Honeyman, it took us most of that season to see the best of him. We certainly didn't see the GH we've seen last season or this.
It's interesting reading threads on other clubs boards, as they're very, very similar to these, with only the player and manager names changed. Yesterday, we were concerned at the prospect of playing high flying Bournemouth, yet...https://bournemouth-forum.vitalfootball.co.uk/threads/thoughts-v-hull.15243/
