Not content with just buying a football club, it seems he’s going into the clothing business as well, he’s just acquired the rights for the Kappa brand in Turkey. Apparently, he plans to be Fenerbahce’s kit supplier.
He’s just got a licensing deal for Turkey, he can only sell there, Kappa handle all of Europe themselves.
Fair do's. I wouldn't be shocked if they became our kit supplier though with the link now there. I'm sure I've seen them on a PREM kit this season, just can't think who though
Daft question…how does a licensing deal work? Could city buy the kit from Turkey but wear it here? Would that work?
I'm expecting one of his companies to be a shirt sponsor in the future and he can pay as much as he wants as a sponsor which depending on the rules will mean we don't breach the FFP rules if he wants to pump as much money into the club as he wants to guarantee Premier league football. Im no expert on FFP rules and I'm sure some on here will have better knowledge of whether it's possible for very wealthy owners to do this.
I thought there might be but if it comes via a 3rd party company and is classed as sponsorship and income then does it allow us to spend more and pay better salaries ?
I think any deal not matter where it comes from has to be seen as fair market value ( very wide range so hard to prove ) as not to see a company with links to an owner via business dealings, friends or family etc, come in and pay a huge sponsorship fee just to get around FFP.
