Earlier in my life Cream, Free, Sabbath, Floyd, Stones etc. Now prefer the likes of Joe Bonamassa, Beth Hart and blues music. Also like Playing for Change best version ever of Sitting on the Dock of the bay as well as other covers. Oddballs. The Leningrad Cowboys. A bunch of Finnish lunatics but great musicians who do stuff from Delilah to a fab version of Stairway to heaven.
Same here and finally gave up and started watching You Tube and reading the comments which are a rich source of information. Wish that had been around back when, but my tastes cover just about everything, including those mentioned already. Strange Dylan gets so few mentions here though, maybe hes more of a poet than a singer for most, but not for me,
Mainly indie and rock, but a good song's a good song regardless of genre. Spotify has no idea what to do with me. I had an album of old cowboy songs on the other day - gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs by Marty Robbins. I think us Gen Xers are quite lucky in that music wasn't as insular and reluctant to look back as it seems to be today. We picked up all sorts of influences from everywhere.
Early 90s stuff. Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Smiths, Inspiral Carpets, New Order etc... With a bit of the dance stuff as well; 808 state, a guy called Gerald etc....then got into Led Zep later on. Beatles are decent (but not the 'best' as some might say) Jimi Hendrix is superb, Dylan is a poet (in an amazing way), plus the 90s with oasis and blur was my era as well ( Oasis were better BTW)
Tbf....with ES I'm just picking up a few Brownie points from the missus, it's her birthday and we're in London that week and she fancied seeing him.
When he first appeared he was something a bit different. Now his songs sound the same as everyone else's. In the 70s, 80s and 90s you couldn't move for mavericks who were also successful despite not really being the mainstream. It's all very homogenous now.
To be honest, there isn't a particular music genre that I love more than the others. I love music, and I love all the genres, but there are a couple of them that I listen to more often. It has to be rap, rock, and chill-out-music. I like to listen to music in any situation. If I'm tired or sad, I listen to music, and if everything is fine, I listen to music. When I'm going to work, when I'm going home, and even at work sometimes, I do the same! My favorite artists have to be Eminem, Ash, and Black Sabbath. But, I have to admit that sometimes I also like to listen to some free license music. I mean, who doesn't like to do it?
What? Nobody mentioned Prokofiev, Dance of the Knights? I know you all listened to it every other Saturday just before 3.00pm . Happy days.
Can’t say I limit myself to a single genre. I love music from punk to classical. I don’t like rap grunge or house music though.
after punk along came the 'new romantics' mixed with the stock, aitken and waterman clones...music died a lot then.
Grew up with The Beatles. Love them still. All sorts after that. Zeppelin, Floyd, Free , Family Cream. Old blues anarl, love it. And the last couple of years Jazz. Hancock, Duke Ellington, Gerry Mulligan and other stuff my brother leads me towards!
wide eclectic range of taste....Pink Floyd are my favourites, But I also like Beatles, Stones, The Who, Rod Stewart, Gensis, Carole King Joni Mitchel ...even listen to a little classical music...but if you want the ultimate chill out music, put Bilie Holiday on...outstanding
