Why would i tell you its a myth, i'm in agreement with you, when a 16 year old millionaire who doesn't go to school and has never had a job tells me we're all gonna die if we don't stop eating, drinking farting etc i'm gonna listen to her, plus i'm big mates with that other keen enviromentalist Jeff Bezos, in fact we're going up into a place with no atmosphere next week, and i don't mean The Den,:emoticon-0110-tongu i mean space in his big **** off gas guzzling rocket. <ok> i hope he doesn't ask me to chip in for the fuel<yikes> oh, and we're gonna plant a tree apiece to offset our carbon footprint, Fat Reg Dwight told us to do that, keeps the deniers happy and stops us being hypocrites<ok>

This tree thing sounds good, I've never heard of it before though. Have you got any other information about it or even a link to a site?

Forgot to add the link, didn't I? It's an oldie, but there are loads of more modern ones. I chose this one as it shows that it could have been implemented 10 years ago!

Some prediction have these areas of England under water by 2050. So yes we are likely to have more bush fires, hotter weather etc we will all likely experience rising sea levels

I don't know what could be done with all that baking soda but it sounds like a neat idea but maybe at a practical level it can't be implemented.

Climate has always changed, and always will
Nothing wrong in cleaning up the air, but i do believe the earth does repair itself
I also believe the Milankovitch cycles play a major part

    I'm happy Hull is going.

On a serious note I'm happy Hull is going but that map kind of supports my (and Jeff Goldblums) theory that we will all get squashed together and disease, famine, general unrest etc will kill enough of us off and it all becomes sustainable again.

For sure the earth has been hotter and colder than it is now but isn't it the rate at which the changes are occurring that is the issue now. I think a full Milankovitch cycle is about 100,000 years and so adaption and evolution can occur.

It will repair itself by killing a substantial amount of humans off one way or another.

The Milankovich theory is actually fundamentally flawed. Basically, it assumes that if there is global warming in the northern hemisphere, the opposite will occur in the southern hemisphere. It doesn't.

The funny thing is that there are events that radically change our climate almost instantaneously. One example is the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis events, which devastated large parts of the earth. Scientists are at loggerheads to determine why these events happen. Graham Hancock has written a book that presents a detailed theory that fits perfectly. It's a hard read & very dry, tbf, but a very informative book on the subject. Many of his other books are absolutely fascinating reads too. I've been reading his books since they first came out. You either love this guy or hate him, btw.

    Why doesn't it?
are you saying there is no climate change in the southern hemisphere?

So the western world chopped down most of it's trees hundreds of years ago to provide space for towns, cities and farmland.
Now they don’t want to let other countries do the same, think Brazil.
The world was frozen not so long ago, the earth has its cycles.
We now have much more information about temperatures, hurricanes etc in other parts of the world that even 40 years ago we would not have known about.
Shock, horror, new record temperature in Death Valley!
People on earth have always managed to live in the most extreme conditions, and that was before air conditioning and insulation, but in those times you wouldn't have raspberries in winter, now we have supermarkets.
