Neither are what we need. The fact this is blatantly ****ing obvious is what concerns me the most and we have made no apparent move for a single quality defensive midfielder. Baffling.

 

I’d rather get one of them in than nothing.

But yes. Weird.

 

We don't need an attacking midfielder? I think we do like. Obviously not as much as a centre mid or centre half but we still need 1

He's a ****ing donkey. Worse than what we have, IMO, if that's even possible.

 

Today won’t hurt the negotiations. Huge week coming up. Hopefully a slight more level playing field that they are no longer having to force through the deal early in the window.

 

We may actually have to make some deals because Lascelles looks like he could be out for 4-6 weeks and Joe the same.

Which is a mighty shame.

 

Here's my massive issue with our transfer performance, perhaps particular in reference to quite how ****ing bad Steve Nickson is:

Alli. Yep, know him. Lingaard, yep, heard of him. Wood, yes, know who he is, he's pretty ****. Trippier, heard of him.

Now look around the league at performances from players and ask yourself if you'd heard of them 2 or 3 years ago, maybe even less time. Llorente, Harrison, Ayling at Leeds. Lamptey, Bissouma at Brighton. Soucek, Bowen at West Ham. I haven't got time to go through all the players at every squad, but these players moved for very little money (in some cases, from youth teams) yet have then been established as leading PL stars. Meanwhile, we're "after" the likes of Lingaard, Alli and allegedly Bissouma (two years too ****ing late). Why don't we have any gems lined up anywhere? Why do we seem to have no clue who's any good on the continent, in South America, etc.?

I don't know why or how our scouting is so ****ing bad, but it needs to be fixed as a massive, urgent priority. Sadly for the owners and Howe, it's too ****ed to fix in time for January. But on the 1st Feb, I want Nickson out the ****ing door and someone competent in as a DoF or similar. I think he did well with ASM, but it's ONE player and we've gone into January with absolutely no clue or ideas. It's shocking how poor we are in this regard. There must be thousands and thousands of players out there, for less than £20m, who are WAY better than the likes of Hendrick, Gayle, Clark, Fraser, Longstaff, Lascelles, etc. Yet we can't find one. Not one.

 

You don't understand why our scouting is bad? You been in a coma for 14 years?

 

I don’t know about that mind, the 2nd placed side in La Liga with the leagues best defensive record won’t have loads of useless players - let alone defenders. Let’s be sensible about our level. The likes of Liverpool and Spurs have long held interest, he can’t be that bad. Their scouting is pretty good.
