For all it was an ropey 1-0, it didn't feel like we were gonna blow it live in the stadium, however I can imagine it being edge of the seat stuff on telly
As I said... will take scrappy 1-0's if it gets what we want, bad first half with a lot going their way with the ref falling for the theatricals, he had a better second half... did they have any attempts second half.
I think it feels more shyte than it actually is tbh, tension. Portsmouth came out, all guns blazing, and we changed things until we got to grips with the game. We could've scored 4 or 5 goals today but one was enough. I don't think Hoffman dived all afternoon, just dealing with balls hoofed into the area. I'd much rather be us than Portsmouth tbh.
Wasn't a classic, the pitch didn't help, but a good win against a side who pressed us throughout without really looking dangerous. Batth looked exactly like I was hoping he would, read the game well, won headers, cleared well and took command. Don't think we'll be anywhere near as soft at the back with him there.
Didnt see any of it today but cracking result. A clean sheet looks good on paper. If Pritchard is back soon, and Roberts, we are starting to look decent on the bench again. Still hoping we get a Stewart backup and CM to alloe Neil a bit more freedom.
A really good win. I thought Cirkin and Doyle were outstanding. Dajaku full of energy and work. Batth was just solid and experienced with bags of composure. The first 30 minutes we were panicky but once we got to grips it was game over
I agree about Batth but I'd also like to give a shout for Evans today. Every team needs an Evans doing simple things that are sometimes a bit ugly ... ... allowing players like Embleton to have the confidence to bomb forward knowing there's some cover who'll take a card for the team.
Like everybody else, I think that's what's needed. We are good going forward but are soft at times when we're defending. Sort that out plus a backup for Stewart and I think we'll be ok.
I would as well mate. That first 25mins or so had me worried, we didn't look comfortable and I thought a goal for them was inevitable tbh. Fair play to us second half, Cirkin was massively improved, the defence stood strong and we had control. Overall I'm delighted with the 3 points. Roll on Bolton.
Portsmouth are a mid table team full of fight and not much more, a decent team would have pushed us harder to-day, thankfully we improved a lot second half and are still in the mix. Anything can happen in the weeks ahead , and we still have as good a chance as anyone to get a top two place, cant ask for more tbh. OaU
