My prediction - Early goal for us, followed by complete despondency from the commentators. Later on, a goal for City, accompanied by screams of sexual ecstasy from the commentators, then a list of players we should sell.
For the avoidance of doubt, I shall keep away from Radio Solent and Sky tv for the duration of the match and find plenty to do unconnected with the game. This is because, every time I get engaged with our matches I seem to encourage scoring by the opposition within minutes of switching on. I hope for your sake the journey back is not as dire ad predicted and you can rest in your car seat with a glib smile!! We can get something from this, if every player keeps alert and thinks ahead more than normal!! COYR!!
I think that we can get something out of this if we go to 15 across the back, 10 in midfield and 8 up front. Plus 3 goalkeepers. Well, it used to work in 30 to 40 a side playground matches. Or British Bulldog, as it usually became.
And then you have to persuade a random kid, walking across the playground, to pick the ball up and throw it to you, whilst claiming that he plays for the other side, so it’s a penalty to us.
I often wondered as a child whether you could line up your entire team on the goal line and just let the opposition take shots at you for 90 minutes. Today could be the day.
And the early sending off, followed by the stone wall penalty that is denied dispute VAR ruling it ok and the dubious penalty for City for one of the Saints players causing Sterling to fall over by giving him a hard stare. A penalty that VAR takes 15 minutes to finally find a possible angle to proof Sterling was shot by a sniper. A normal Saints game then.
I seem to remember a match at Elland Road where we did this for most of the second half, with great success.
Only thing I would question is the lack of defensive cover for KWP, as it’s not Stuey’s strongest suit.
Interesting, for me of all the possible options we’ve got in those positions I think he’s one of the best at supporting the full back
Especially with Cancelo. Love watching him get forward, but hopefully not today. Grealish included because he tends to enjoy playing against us?
I am so besotted with our tactical versatility this year. It’s great to see us with so much more flexibility. I hope we can keep improving the squad. Retaining this fluidity with better players coming in for the roles at 1, 6, 9 and 10 would be really something.
